We all know Nashville is going to keep growing. I mean, if you think traffic is bad now, we’re only scratching the surface, people. New people are moving here every day, new buildings are popping everywhere. So much so, in fact, that people are now joking that Tennessee’s state bird is the crane. So, seeing new developments isn’t exactly shocking anymore, but I was reading over this planned ‘Nashville Yards’ project, and something caught my eye that has me totally stoked.
Nashville Yards, the 15-acre campus that will replace the LifeWay building, will stretch from Broadway to Church Street, with office, retail, residential and entertainment space included. San Diego-based Southwest Value Partners paid $125 million in cash for LifeWay’s campus in 2015 and is developing the site with Dallas-based Lincoln Property Company.
A 23-story Hyatt Regency hotel with 591 rooms is planned for Broadway and is scheduled to open next year. Los Angeles-based entertainment company AEG has also agreed to develop a four-acre, mixed-use entertainment district that will include a music venue, a Regal Cinemas luxury theatre, an entertainment club and a 240-room boutique hotel.
Whaaaaaaaaaaat?!?! A Regal Cinemas LUXURY theatre?!?! What does that even mean!?
Am I going to be able to get a massage while I’m watching a movie? Did they replace all of the seats with hot tubs? Well, nevermind….that might not be such a good thing. It’s usually dark in theaters. I don’t know how I feel about getting into a vat of warm liquid that I can’t see into. But, the massage? Yeah!
Also, how sick is it going to be to go downtown and do dinner and a movie right? Get you a nice dinner at Etch and then stroll over a few blocks to the luxury theater, where you can get you a pedicure while watching Black Panther. You’ll no long have to settle for Opry Mills food court Panda Express before catching your flick.
I usually roll my eyes reading all of the new businesses coming to Nashville as we turn this bitch into THE entertainment mecca in our country. But, this is awesome news that every native should be excited about. It’s about damn time they gave us something we can actually use instead of another bar or gimmicky restaurant.
