Suh Watch 2018: Jets Are Out, Rams Are Front Runners

It’s been a week of madness in Suh Watch 2018. Teams are coming in and out of the hunt for prized free agent defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh, and at this point, it looks like just three teams remain (the Rams, the Saints, and the Titans).

Yesterday, the New York Jets rescinded their initial offer to Suh. It was reportedly the most lucrative he’d received from a dollars and cents standpoint. But, multiple rumors are swirling as to why it fell through. One, that the offer simply expired – it had a deadline. It passed the deadline. Simple as that. Another, juicier rumor is that the Jets were a little peeved by Suh’s insistence on foregoing offseason programs and wanting the team to reimburse him for traveling on his private jet to games.

Who the hell knows?!? We may never figure it out. But, for whatever reason, the Jets, the Raiders, and the Seahawks are all out now. And here we are…

Dat state income tax, though.

Los Angeles offers a lot of promise from a business standpoint for Suh. Plus, he wants to play alongside Aaron Donald and form “the most dominant defensive tackle duo in NFL history.” I went with quotation marks there because I don’t believe in proclaiming things that haven’t even happened to be true. In fairness, Suh didn’t say that – it came from the media. But, you can’t throw around G.O.A.T. terms for two players that have never played together.

So, anyway – the point being that Nashville likely isn’t going to compete with LA in that regard.

But, we don’t have a state income tax, and come the hell on – Jurrell Casey ain’t no slouch to play next to either. Though the Titans do have plenty to offer Suh, it sounds like Titans fans may have to be a little more patient and wait this thing out.

I get the impression this isn’t going to be a quick decision.

But, again – while Suh would be a welcomed addition and a definite upgrade over Sylvester Williams, I would advise Titans fans to pump the brakes on all the excitement and impatience.

Suh hasn’t been quite as dominant over the last two seasons as he was earlier on his career. If the Titans don’t land him, and it appears likely they won’t, then it’s not the end of the world. The defensive line will be just fine with or without him.
