With the 26th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons selected Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley. For my money, he’s the best WR in this draft, and figures to provide a lethal 1-2 punch to that Falcons offense opposite Julio Jones. But, it’s his reaction to being drafted that has everyone talking this morning.

Calvin, you okay buddy?
Can someone go check on him, please? He looks like he’s on the verge of fainting in this video. Maybe a little bit of vomit, too, but not much – kind of like a little baby spit up and then passing out. Whatever it is, it’s not good. But, seriously, the raw emotion of the draft is so awesome. It’s special to see all of these dreams being realized for other people while I sit on my couch, dreading work the next day, and pounding Modelos. Really awesome.
He’s probably upset thinking about all of the defensive backs Jones and he are going to murder where they stand on the football field. “Mama, I wanted to be in the NFL, but I didn’t want to kill people. Now, look at what they’re going to have me do.” Totally get it, and it seems perfectly reasonable for him to be thinking about that.
This Falcons offense is going to be something else – Matt Ryan, Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman, Jones, and now Ridley. Man oh man, I can already picture the fireworks.
