I have to admit – I’m a bit of a poser when it comes to fishing. Love to go out on the boat….or even just stand on the river banks. I’m always down to go wander around in the woods and be apart of nature and all of that hippy dippy bullshit. But, man – I hate actually catching the fish. I’m not going to eat the little boogers, but I also don’t really want to hold them long enough to cut ’em lose. So, what ends up happening when I go fishing is that I catch tires, or just try not to catch anything in general. But, I still want to look cool because people who fish definitely look cool – everyone knows that. Well, thanks to one ambitious man, I may have found a reasonable solution for my anxiety conundrum.

That’s it! I just need to start fishing with a gun. If I kill something, it’ll just float around until I can give it away to one of my buddies (which will also make me look generous), I’ll get all the enjoyment out of fishing I need, and I won’t have to touch a single stinkin’ fish! It’s brilliant. Now, I just need to figure out how to get a gun and sneak onto the waterfront. I’m sure all my fishin’ buddies that I don’t have will be cool with that. Next thing you know, I’ll be doing my own episodes of Slayin’ Bass.
“Hey, Travis! How’s the fishing?!” might be my new favorite line, too. I’m just going to start randomly dropping that into conversations, whether it makes sense or not.
But, you know what? He may fire off 20 bullets into the lake, but if at least two fish float up, it’ll be infinitely more efficient than ol’ blue shirt standing on the banks all day. I get it, though – it’s not about catching the fish. Sometimes, it’s just about getting in tune with Mother Nature. Regardless, I think we’ve all learned something new here today, and that’s what’s most important.
