Recapping Our First Round Options for the Tennessee Titans

The 2018 NFL Draft takes place April 26-28 this year, and as it stands, the Tennessee Titans have one first round draft pick. General manager Jon Robinson and first year head coach Mike Vrabel currently hold the 25th overall selection. Over the next few weeks, your boy “Big Natural” Stoney Keeley will be taking a look at some of the prospects who are either rumored to be tied to or who make sense for the Titans.

I started this feature about a month and a half ago and, 15 reports later, can safely say I’m done. So, let’s take a moment to look back at who all could be in play for the Titans at #25.

Recapping the Titans First Round Options for 2018

Lorenzo Carter – Raw speed and athleticism provides exactly what the Titans are lacking in the pass rush now. If some of the more established and polished edge rushers are off the board, I could definitely see Carter being the pick.

Marcus Davenport – At one point, a consensus top-10 pick, Davenport has slid in a lot of NFL Draft circles. I doubt he makes it all the way to #25, but if he does would be an absolute steal for a team that needs an elite pass rusher.

Tremaine Edmunds – The only scenario that would see Edmunds become a Titan is if the team traded up to get him. It’s highly unlikely, but he is at least on the Titans radar. Hence the reason I wrote this report.

Rashaan Evans – I think all of the elite pass rushers are gone and it’s too early to reach for the next tier of guys. That’s how Evans ends up being the pick at #25, which I believe will happen.

Ronnie Harrison – He’s an enforcer to pair with Kevin Byard over the next decade (hopefully). I wouldn’t complain at all about this selection, regardless of perceived team needs.

Will Hernandez – Doubt they go interior o-line in the first round, but I’m high on Hernandez. He’s an old school road grader in the run game and has an incredibly high ceiling as a cornerstone guard.

Sam Hubbard – The Titans need a guy with elite attributes, which Hubbard is not. That said, he’s still a highly productive pass rusher. A lot of people have him circled to the Titans in the second round.

Malik Jefferson – Not a first round prospect, at least to many draft analysts, but the Titans spent some time with Jefferson and I really like the skill set he brings to the table. I doubt it would be popular, but I’d be okay with bringing him aboard.

Ronald Jones – Only wrote about this to address the mocks that had him going to the Titans. I give it 0% chance of happening, but then again, you can never have too many offensive play-makers, right?

Harold Landry – He’s sort of the consensus guy among Titans fans, and sure, if he’s available at #25, he should be the pick. But, I don’t think that he will be.

Arden Key – Huge character concerns and a dip in production have Key sliding all the way out of the first round. That said, there’s still a contingent of people thinking he makes sense for the Titans at #25.

Josh Sweat – He’s more of a developmental guy, but he does possess the exact skill set that the Titans need on defense.

Leighton Vander Esch – At one point, I would’ve thought it likely for him to end up in Tennessee, but he’s since skyrocketed up draft boards, so I don’t think there’s any way LVE ends up a Titan. That said, he sure would be a good fit.

Vita Vea – I love Vea as a prospect. He’s one of my favorite players in this draft, and could generate a pass rush from the d-line. Remember – just because they need pass rush help, doesn’t mean the Titans have to get it from the DE/OLB position. It’s a nice thought, but I don’t see Vea getting past Miami at #11 at the latest.

Isaiah Wynn – More of a technique guy than Hernandez, but I’m just as high on him. He’s a versatile guy that has elite NFL potential.

I’m confident that one of these guys will end up being the pick, but who knows? I wrote 13 reports last year, and while I nailed Corey Davis, I completely whiffed on Adoree Jackson. Regardless, enjoy the night, folks! It only comes once a year!
