For 10 years now, I have hosted a special college football fantasy league. Now that we’re getting 100% behind this SoBros machine, it’s time to change the guard. For some reason, we’ve always called this league “Bowl Mania,” and I can’t think of a better name, so we’re just going to roll with it. SoBros Bowl Mania. We love our fantasy competitions here, and we’ve decided to open this thing up to all of our friends and readers. Only seven spots remain, so if you want in you better act fast. Here’s how:
Parameters
We have two conferences of eight players. Each conference has its own draft that lasts eight rounds, but instead of drafting players, you’re drafting teams. Each week, you’ll match up against an opponent, and your teams will score points based on the scoring system provided below.
I’m tweaking things this year so that no trades/free agent transactions will be allowed. It’s a tremendous amount of work at the moment, so until we figure out a way to automate the game, I’m trying to save myself the stress.
The season lasts for 11 weeks – you’ll play each division opponent three times and two opponents from the other division in your conference. After the 11-week regular season, the two division champs from each conference will play for the conference championship. The two conference champs get automatic bids for our playoffs.
In Week 13, the top four teams remaining will compete in two playoff games. Overall record will be used to determine the top four, with the two conference champs getting the top two seeds. In the event of a tied record, season points will be used to break the tie.
After the Week 13 playoffs, the two playoff winners will meet for the 2018 Season Championship. Scoring will last over the course of bowl season, and the scoring system will tweak a bit for the bowl games.
There are a total of five SoBros Bowl Mania bowl games – the Season Championship, as outlined above. The Rose Bowl, featuring the two highest ranking Division Champions remaining, the Sugar Bowl feat. the highest remaining ranked players from each conference, and then the Orange Bowl and Fiesta Bowl, where the two highest remaining ranked players will square off in a game for their conference’s top overall pick in 2019.
Confused yet? Yeah – it’s a lot. I get it. So, feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
Scoring System
Teams will score points based on victory margin. Teams will also score bonus points if they EARN a top 25 ranking after a week, OR if they WIN AGAINST a top 25 ranked team. This will reflect the AP Poll, as it’s the only credible poll that comes out all season long, and on Sunday. The scoring system is as follows:
Victory Margin = Fantasy Points
1-3 = 3 points
4-7 = 5 points
8-11 = 7 points
12-15 = 9 points
16-19 = 11 points
20-23 = 13 points
24-27 = 15 points
28-31 = 17 points
32-35 = 20 points
36-39 = 23 points
40-45 = 25 points
46-49 = 30 points
50+ = 4 points
Ranked = Bonus Fantasy Points
1 = 25 points
2 = 24 points
3 = 23 points
4 = 22 points
5 = 21 points
6-10 = 20 points
11-14 = 18 points
15-20 = 15 points
21-25 = 12 points
Ranked Teams Beaten = Bonus Fantasy Points
1 = 30 points
2-5 = 25 points
6-10 = 20 points
11-14 = 17 points
15-20 = 14 points
21-25 = 10 points
So lets say the #4 Boise State Broncos beat the #11 Georgia Bulldogs 52-35, and remain ranked at #4 when the next poll is released…
They would earn 50 points! 11 for winning by 17, 17 for beating the 11th ranked team, and then 22 for being ranked #4!
