Kind of a running gag these days to pick on Nashville traffic. That is to say that even when it actually isn’t that bad, it’s still bad. It’s akin to talking about the weather these days…”boy, how about this heat?” “Man, this traffic is gettin’ out of control.” So, yeah – maybe this hyperbole, but hey – it’s fun. You’d still think that even at its worst, sitting in Nashville traffic is better than paddling across a river. But, after seeing the vision, I’m not so sure.
As usual, here’s a link in case Instagram takes this video down.
New York, New York, baby. Oh, the things you will see. Listen – I think the Big Apple gets a bad rap down here in the South. People can be rude, but that’s assuming you care about what people think of you. More than anything, they’re just fast. They just want to get from Point A to Point B as fast as they can, and us slow-talking Southerners simply get in the way. That’s all.
But, we need to take a moment to step back and respect the ingenuity of the New Yorker. “What’s the quickest way to work? Probably if I just cross this river. Guess I’ll do it.” Man, oh man – where there is a will, there is a way.
Also, the confidence on display here is impressive. I won’t drink coffee in the morning after I’ve gotten dressed out of fear that I’ll spill it on me. I can’t imagine getting on a damn paddle board and surfing across the river in a full on suit. So, props to our boy here for that, too.
If things continue on this trajectory, it won’t be long before people are figuring out ways to get to Nashville in the same manner.
