Virginia Tech and Middle Tennessee State Announce a Home and Home for 2020-21

Big news for the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State today. Brett McMurphy is reporting that the program has agreed to a home and home series with the Virginia Tech Hokies. The series will take place in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in 2020, and in Blacksburg, Virginia in 2021. This Virginia Tech MTSU series is happening after Michigan terminated its deal with Virginia Tech.

Obviously, this is a big deal for the ol’ alma mater, the Harvard of the South, ol’ Middle. If this program is ever going to take the next step, this is how you start. It may not lead to many wins, but over the course of time, this is how you get better and gain credibility. I mean, obviously it doesn’t even matter considering you can go undefeated and not even get into the playoffs. But, that’s a different discussion for a different day.

My point is that if MTSU can keep scheduling fiercely, they’ll have more opportunities for quality wins. If they can execute in those games, then the program will naturally grow. The Blue Raiders already have three SEC teams on the schedule for 2018. Michigan, Duke, and Iowa await them in 2019. Now, Virginia Tech joins Duke and Ole Miss on Middle’s 2020 slate.

So, I’m a fan of the series. And, you can damn sure bet we’re going to do what we can to have a SoBros Network presence in the Boro come 2020.
