Why Do I Have to Write About Dez Bryant and the Titans Again?

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the possibility of Dez Bryant joining the Tennessee Titans and how much I hated the idea. I really don’t know how I could put it any clearer – that’s a dumb move. Well, now, the rumor mill is swirling again because one sports book has listed the Titans as the favorite to land the estranged former Cowboys receiver.

Naturally, with Dez Bryant still available, one sports book has made the obvious connection. Sportsline.com has named the Titans as heavy (-200) favorites to sign the veteran receiver.

Which team will Dez Bryant play for next?

Titans -200, Texans +200, Giants +300, Packers +400, Redskins +500, 49ers +600

These odds boil down to playing simple connect the dots. The Titans’ top two receivers have been hurt and the team doesn’t have much experience behind them. Naturally, the Titans land as the favorite.

But would the team add such a big personality to the locker room? Taking it one step further, is adding a guy who struggled to separate and took a clear step backwards last year the best thing to do?

It doesn’t sound like Jon Robinson’s style, but if injuries linger on, we can’t rule it out. Still, I think the Titans would be better served waiting things out and seeing what comes available during camp cuts.

Knowing what you know now, would you sign Dez Bryant?

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck no, Terry!

I really can’t put it any better than you did – the guy hasn’t been dominant since 2014 (breaking news: that’s four years ago), he’s known for his attitude, and that’s just not a risk I’d be willing to take.

Personally, I think Corey Davis is going to develop nicely. Rishard Matthews is always reliable. And, with a new offensive coordinator that isn’t going to call a million jet sweeps per game to him, Taywan Taylor should thrive. If Tajae Sharpe can return to his dependable hands and route-running ways, he should be a good #3 or #4. This group has a lot of potential.

Do the Titans need some more secure wide receiver depth? Yes. Am I surprised they didn’t add anyone other than Michael Campanaro in free agency or the NFL Draft? Yes. But, is Bryant the answer to that? No.

NO

Stay away. STAY. AWAY.

BYE.

If Las Vegas is right about this, I will passionately riot in a field somewhere.
