Ouch – Calling a Play With “#17’s a Bitch” Has to Hurt the Psyche

To be successful in football, or really life in general, you have to have a strong psyche. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. But, sometimes, we come across someone or something that severely damages our psyche. It’s one of life’s great struggles – trying to manage our confidence, our feelings, and control over external conflicts. Well, for #17 here, an opposing quarterback crushed his psyche with three little words and a clap.

As usual, here’s a link in case Instagram takes this video down.

I don’t know who he is, or where he is, but #17 can never show his face on a football field again. EVER. The opposing team has a play modeled after his being a bitch. That is cold blooded. “AY, #17’s A BITCH!” How do you even perform after you hear that? Don’t you just hear that and look around like, “WTF?” Just completely frozen in time.

That’s instant therapy.

I hear that, and I’m instantly wondering what I’ve done that is so deserving of being so openly disrespected. I’m feeling more disrespected by that than if the quarterback had just walked up to me and gave me an open-hand slap to the face.

The way he says it is so nonchalant. Like, it’s just common knowledge among the offense that 17’s a bitch. There’s nothin’ he can do about it…he’s just a bitch. It’s a fact of life. Does #17 get a chance to even prove himself? Man….

And, even if that wasn’t a designed play call….if the quarterback is just professing that I’m a bitch, it doesn’t make it any better because that delivery is so matter-of-fact. It’s a cold, cold world.

R.I.P. to #17’s confidence.
