Saturday was a shit show, y’all. I mean the card was awesome with eight finishes and great performances all around. Aside from Tony Ferguson’s return, there wasn’t a more impressive performance that what Khabib Nurmagomedov did to Conor McGregor. He smashed The Irishman. Khabib beat him standing, then smacked Conor around on the ground.
Conor was done y’all.
He tapped to a neck crank and wanted no more of what The Russian was bringing. Post-fight, all hell broke loose with Khabib looking to fight one of Conor’s coaches/the team as a whole. Now, of course Khabib deserves some of the blame as he is a professional and all that jazz, but the majority of the blame rests on the UFC’s shoulders. The organization has let Conor say/do whatever he’s wanted. When he smashed up that bus in NYC, completely fucking up UFC 223, they didn’t do shit. The attack left two fighters injured and what did the UFC do? They put Conor chucking the dolly into the trailers leading up to Saturday’s fight.
Uncle Dana called it the darkest day in UFC history or some shit, but piped up the highlights then referred to it as part of the story. Well guess what’s part of the story now? Khabib smashing the golden boy, then going after the squad. My question is what the hell did the UFC expect to happen?
Conor has said terrible, awful, no good, very bad things about Khabib’s family and religion. Those two aspects are far more important to him than the fight game. For instance, Khabib has turned down big time money fights during UFC Fight Week in July due to his observation of Ramadan. Not to mention, we’re talking about a guy that is paid to fight in a cage who grew up in the mountains of Dagestan wrestling fucking bears! Conor has the swag and all that, but he’s playing a character y’all.
That’s the difference between these two there is absolutely no gimmick in Khabib. He’s built different and that showed after pouring it on Conor for twenty minutes then throwing a flying death stomp in the direction of Dillon Danis.
By no means am I saying Khabib doesn’t deserve to be punished, but all these rumors about possible visa issues and all that are a joke. No one was injured and more than anything it was just a huge pull-away. I get that it was during a card whereas Conor’s bullshit happened at the press conference, but to say Saturday’s incident was worse is a joke. Conor ruined an entire card, legit injured two people and had zero consequences. Khabib hurt no one (other than Conor’s pride) and some of y’all are saying he should be blackballed. Grow up.
Had Khabib gone full on Ron Artest then yeah I would be on team “Khabib is crazy” but he didn’t. He went after the guys that the UFC has amped up and let get away with, not murder, but criminal assault. Hit Khabib with a fine and let’s all move on to Khabib vs. Tony/Conor vs. Nate III.
