Kyle Brandt Blew up Titans Twitter, but Could Not Have Been More Correct

Kyle Brandt ruffled a lot of feathers in Nashville yesterday with his take on why the Tennessee Titans don’t get the respect they deserve from the national media. In case you missed it, smack that play button here:

This might be **BREAKING NEWS** to some people, but Brandt is absolutely 1,000,000% correct here. The national media is NOT high on the Titans, as evidenced by bogus power rankings from all over the country (the Titans are 5th in mine). Brandt says there are more like 27 teams in the NFL (contrary to the 31, as reported by Taylor Lewan), but it’s probably closer to 20 – he’s being pretty generous there. There’s always a strong contingency of opposing fans in Nissan Stadium, and over the last few years, the Titans fan presence on game day has dwindled.

But, the most vocal Titans fans are the ones on Titans Twitter and Titans Facebook. The overreactions to Brandt’s take are so bad – an indication of how this fan base just doesn’t want to hear any sort of criticism at all. But, the truth hurts.

Did people not watch the entire video? At what point does Brandt say, “I hate the Titans – they shouldn’t be in the league?” Did I miss something? Please point me to the mark in this video at which Brandt says the Titans suck and don’t deserve the coverage.

He’s simply pointing out the truth of why this team doesn’t get the respect they deserve. Why are y’all going after Kyle Brandt here?!?!

This segment of Titans fans never ceases to amaze me – not only do they constantly clamor for every available free agent, but they’re out there trying to figure out if Corey Davis is in a gang. The incessant complaining and whining about not getting respect does nothing to improve the perception that Titans fans are among the worst in the league. It makes it worse when they’re arguing over something they totally missed the point of.

But, the bigger picture here is that we don’t even need the national attention. Our guy Joshua Huffman tweeted:

‘There are so many reasons that people don’t respect the Tennessee Titans’ – Bingo…this is nothing new.

But, Huffman nailed it with ‘respect is highly overrated’ – the fuck do you guys think national respect does for a team on the field on Sundays? Do you think getting media attention throughout the week is going to make this team better? Does becoming a media darling negate the importance of the execution of a good game plan?

Who in the rightful fuck cares?

Titans fans – we have to get over this small-market bias bullshit. Things are good in Nashville. We have a good team – we have tons of good coverage in the area (biased and unbiased alike – from Jim Wyatt, the Music City Miracles team, Run Pass Opinion, the Football and Other F Words Podcast, Paul Kuharsky, Titan Sized, SoBros Network *ahem* – I could go on and on). It doesn’t matter what they’re talking about in New York or Los Angeles. If this team keeps winning games, they’re going to get the attention. It just comes with time.

But, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever that we can’t just enjoy it. Enjoy it here and now with your city and with your fellow Titans fans. That’s all that matters.

Ultimately, Brandt’s point is absolutely correct and we have to stop acting like babies with our woulda, coulda, shoulda bullshit. #BeBetter and for fucks sake, Titan Up.
