Mac and Cheese Candy Canes: You in or Nah?

Big news out of the culinary universe to report. Apparently, there is a company up in Seattle that is making mac and cheese candy canes just in time for the holiday season! It’s right around the corner, after all.

A Seattle based store is selling candy canes infused with an unexpected flavor.

As described on the store’s website, Archie McPhee sells a set of six yellow and white candy canes designed to taste like your childhood favorite – macaroni and cheese.

It’s like comfort food-flavored comfort food! Macaroni and cheese has become a holiday family tradition in many parts of the country, so why not let our holiday candy reflect that? the store said.

The candy canes are currently listed for $5.95.

My initial reaction was, “gross. no.”

But, the more I think about how much I love the savory taste of mac and cheese, the more I think, “you know – I could probably suck on that for a good while.” That’s what she said. Surely this is just some sort of marketing ploy to bring new business to Archie McPhee, right? Surely this is just going to be one of those fad things that people read about but don’t actually try, right?!?!

Wrong.

I just went to order a box of these, and they actually have a limit of one box per customer because they’re selling so well. So many people are clamoring to buy these things that they had to check y’all’s asses. Is there some sort of black market for mac and cheese candy canes? Are there really scalpers out there trying to pass these things off to a secondary market? Crazy!

So, as I said, I bought a box – I am planning on doing a review of these things for the SoBros Network YouTube channel. I asked which SoBros wanted to join me in trying these things out for content. These are the responses we got:

  • “Whaaaaaat gross” – Me, initially
  • “Hard. Mu. Fuggin. Pass.” -Poppa Bear
  • “I say this with all due respect but Fuck. That.” -Herbie Brooks

But, Cadbury, Mose, and Rubber Rooster are in, so we’re just going to have our own little party!

What do you guys think? Yay or nay on the mac and cheese candy canes?
