As a part of our Halloween 2018 coverage, we’ve decided to open up a bit of our personal lives, and share some scary stories. These are full on eye witness accounts of spooky occurrences. So, get your popcorn ready. Feel free to pull these stories out around the campfire, too. Today, we’re talking about a weird “stairwalker” showing up on a hot summer night.
It was the summer of 2003 – I was just a 17 year old kid drifting through high school, preparing for my senior year at Wilson Central High School, aka the champion factory. Not really a care in the world….well….except for the fact that it was summer time in Tennessee and the air conditioning went out in my bedroom.
Yeah – brutal.
So, I couldn’t sleep in my bedroom that summer. I crashed on the couch every night. I’m 6’1″ so it wasn’t exactly comfy cozy, but it beat the steamy suffocation of a Tennessee summer night. Well, one night, I wake up in the middle of the night needing a drink. I look over to the coffee table to grab my water bottle, and I notice what looks like movement over on the stair case.
My eyes try to focus, and sure enough, I see the vague silhouette of a man walking up and down the stairs. I probably laid there for 30 minutes, paralyzed, wondering what to do. Eventually, I just put my head under the covers and sweated myself to sleep.
It’s a pretty creepy memory to look back on, but one that I think can easily be attributed to the power of the mind….especially when it’s foggy in the middle of the night and dark. Sorry to ruin the spookiness, but hey – let’s just be honest here. The idea of a ghost just walking up and down stairs in the middle of the night is outright hilarious. Not doing anything real spooky – just getting some cardio in.
