Apparently, Nashville has an ATV gang now. Not sure how or why, but it seems like all I’ve seen since Saturday are photos and videos of people on these damn ATVs gallivanting about town, driving down the wrong side of the road, ramming into people’s vehicles, robbing people at gunpoint, slingin’ cops into barricades, and all kinds of wild shit.
(Disclaimer: I know, I know – I’m way behind on this story, but I was in my own universe all weekend)
Courtesy of our friends at WKRN:
Hundreds of ATV and dirt bike riders were seen driving the streets of Nashville last weekend.
The riders weaved between lanes, cutting vehicles off and even rode around Metro police officers trying to stop them.
On Saturday, Sgt. John Bourque, a 22-year veteran, was dragged by a four-wheeler along Broadway. He was treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for minor injuries after he was thrown into a metal barricade.
Another officer received minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
Metro police estimated over 100 people riding dirt bikes, motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs participated in the illegal ride.
During an online video stream of the event, one rider was heard saying they are giving back to the community, though he did not explain how.
What the fuck, y’all? I mean……THE FUCK!? Why? What is this, Mad Max? Who are these people? Where did they come from? Why did this seem like a good idea WITH THE SEC TOURNAMENT AND ST. PATRICK’S DAY FESTIVITIES GOING ON!?!?!
NEW VIDEO shows another view of a @MNPDNashville officer being hit by an ATV and dragged near Honky Tonks on Broadway. Other riders are seen driving the wrong-way, weaving in & out of traffic and crossing the middle line: https://t.co/6rPhmo9ySL pic.twitter.com/nNUQ76pxXO

This is so stupid. I mean, having any remote desire whatsoever to drive a four-wheeler down Broadway is stupid enough. But, to physically harm police officers, to ram into someone’s car…that’s just a whole new level of stupidity.
“Giving back to the community” – are you kidding? What are you giving back? Concussions? That’s the equivalent of just vaguely saying “for the troops” or “for the kids.” “Why did you rob this bank, sir?” “For the children.“
Is that supposed to make it better?
I don’t know. I’m definitely not saying that I support vigilante justice. But…[Editor’s note: the rest of this paragraph has been removed because the author is way out of line].
Is there some sort of criminal subculture where ATV gangs run rampant over society? Is this like Sons of Anarchy but on children’s vehicles?
I’m sorry, but I thought that’s all ATVs were for – children and farmers. I would love to own an ATV so that I could peacefully traverse the farm in Gladeville. But, I would never look at an ATV and think, “man, it’d be badass if I could drive this thing downtown on a crowded street and maybe put someone’s life in jeopardy.”
What’s stopping us from getting our bicycles out and doing this? Better yet, how about these things?

Let’s get about a hundred of these things out on I-40 and see what happens. I’m sure I can still fit in mine.
Anyway, if y’all know anything about this ridiculous bullshit, call the police:
Police are asking for help identifying the rider who dragged the officer. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
