Location : The Myrmidon

We open with Gallo arriving by plane to a yet unnamed location in the story. She’s met in the hangar. As she’s being escorted inside, she passes by what appears to be cells with enhanced people in them. She comes to a door and it opens up, Warden Baron Strucker greets her. Whaaaaa, isn’t he supposed to be dead? Again?

While all that is taking place, we’re getting an overrated single person narrative. You can derive it to be Steve Rogers, Captain America. He’s being set up. Thunderbolt Ross is dead and by a weapon similar in size and shape to a shield. The narration says he knows it was never personal. He was never the thing they were after, it was the shield.

Gallo meets with Strucker. She’s come to see if The Myrmidon would hold him. He assures her that the Super Prison was built for people like Rogers. He knows Gallo is working a job for Lukin. The Prison will hold Captain long enough for her to finish whatever she promised Lukin.

Brooklyn

Steve and Sharon are meeting with an unnamed woman, who from the conversation, you can figure she’s a lawyer. The Lady-Lawyer is asking them questions to clarify a story. Assures them this is bad, but it could be worse. Steve and Ross have a heated exchange and Steve accuses him of sending Sharon into an ambush. Ross is found murdered. I’d call that a level 9.

Lady-Lawyer assures Steve if he does not turn himself in then a warrant will be issued. In 24 hrs, Steve Rogers will be a fugitive…again.

Staten Island : The Bar With No Name

We last saw this bar in Amazing Spider-Man #7. It has seen better days, and that’s saying something. Currently, it is being torn to pieces by a silver armed man in a mask. Bucky, Winter Soldier, is cleaning house. He wants to find info on Ross’s murder. Usually the right place to look. But in this case no one seems to know.

Again we get a continuation of the text narration from before. Steve says he always knew they’d use something like this to discredit him. They used the Winter Soldier life against Bucky when he took over as Captain America just the same.

Bucky is sticking out. These low-lying fruit bar-flies are no help. Back in Brooklyn, Sharon gets off the phone. Bucky had busted up the bar for her. Steve knows that’s it. He’s going to turn himself in and get ahead of this.

He walks the house and Sharon follows. He opens up some secret compartments in the home and removes his shield. Runs his hand down it as he says, “how long can I carry this shield and fight the government who entrusted me with it?”. Sharon corrects him. He serves a country, he does not serve the government. He hands her the shield and she drops her head.

Scene opens up in a ballroom. Mayor Fisk is at a podium. There’s a banner for Roxxon Oil Co. And Hammer Industries. This is the state of New York in a nutshell. We’ve seen this coming in Amazing Spider-Man. Lukin is there. She sees on the news “Captain America turns himself in”.

In an undisclosed cell, Steve Rogers is being interrogated by what appears to be Nicky Fury. He asks him where the shield is. Steve says he lost it. Lukin is seen calling someone off page with, “It’s done.” We see Steve Rogers being flown to and checked into Myrmidon.

We have the final third of Steve off page narration. You can not kill the dream no matter how many dreamers you kill. As Steve goes on, we see Sharon entering an abandoned building. Going down stairs and more stairs. She enters a room lightly lit by blue. “Aeternum Filas sisters. Again the Dryad summons us…again the ancient serpent arises.”

They can jail the revolutionary.

They cannot jail the revolution.

Appearing on a transportation platform is Spider-Woman, Mockingbird, Misty Knight, Sue Richards.

“And the Daughters of Liberty rise to meet it.”

Hoooooooooly crap. I’ve read this three times tonight already and it gives me chills every time. Absolutely amazing. I’ve been jonesing for an all-female team like A-Force to come together. Daughters of Liberty, OMG! Seriously, chills, every damn time. I cannot wait for the next issue.
