Titans Draft Roundup: Ed Oliver Is in Play

Welcome to the weekly Tennessee Titans draft roundup for the 2019 NFL Draft. Over the course of the next several weeks, I’ll be releasing this column once a week with my very professional journalism opinions. You’ll find everything from rumors to wild speculation to actual analysis (sometimes). Titan up!

*The most interesting bit of news since the last Titans Draft Roundup is the Titans working out RB Darrell Henderson. It’s the fourth back they’ve met with or worked out, so it looks like they’re serious about adding some depth at the running back position. Or, it’s possible they could be looking at a guy to push Dion Lewis and/or serve as an insurance policy should Derrick Henry not maintain the level of success he concluded last season with. The Titans have also met with FAU’s Devin Singletary, Texas A&M’s Trayveon Williams, and Kansas State’s Alex Barnes.

*The Titans did meet with DT Ed Oliver – I still find it hard to imagine that he’s there at #19, but if someone reaches for a quarterback, receiver, or defensive back out of desperate need, then maybe some of these defensive line prospects start sliding. Still, I wouldn’t get my hopes up, Titans fans.

*If you thought taking a TE or WR in the first round was dumb, Jim Wyatt’s latest tour of the mocks exposes three journalists who think the Titans are going to go either ILB or CB. Some dude from the Washington Post has the Titans picking Mack Wilson. lololololololoooooooo.

*After the AAF collapsed earlier this week, the Titans signed QB Logan Woodside. On the last Titans Draft Roundup, I said it was still worth bringing in a third quarterback. This fills that need, and given their propensity for Woodside, probably means they definitely won’t be drafting a quarterback in two weeks.

*According to Allan Bell, Taylor Lewan “will join Kay Adams, host of NFL Network’s Good Morning Football to interview top draftees in Nashville once they’re selected.”

*According to Tom Pelissero, the Titans have a pre-draft visit lined up with Louisiana Tech’s Jaylon Ferguson. The dude was ultra productive at LA tech, so that aligns with JRob’s history of valuing production. And, he fills a major need on the Titans defense. This cat could be a prospect to watch.

*The best news of the week, though?

*As it stands, the Titans will have six picks in this year’s draft:

  • 1st round – 19th overall
  • 2nd round – 51st overall
  • 3rd round – 82nd overall
  • 4th round – 121st overall
  • 5th round – 157th overall
  • 6th round – 188th overall
