Mose’s Favorite Mania Weekend Matches

We survived. In what may be one of the most shocking turn of events, the SoBros squad made it up to Jersey City, with all our rowdy friends, and didn’t see a jail cell!

Even more surprising, I don’t believe we were charged with the extra cleaning fee from our b-n-b, despite the smells. What did happen though is we were blessed to see three live shows along with Janela’s Spring Break 3 Pt. 1 over at the SUP b-n-b. There’s plenty to discuss, but I’m jumping right in with my favorite matches from the weekend.

Mose’s Top 10 Mania Weekend Matches

10. Invisible Man vs. Invisible Stan (JJSB3 Pt.1) – This was sooooooo much damn fun to behold. Referee Bryce is the real MVP as he absolutely, unequivocally crushed the game quarterbacking this match. I can’t tell you how many times we lost it watching this kooky shit.

9. Sadkampf vs. Tank and Manny Fernandez (BLP Adventures in Wrestling) – It took Tank about 30 seconds to stick a fork in Kevin Ku’s head. He would later go on to try and skewer Dom’s feet which left Garrini literally running to get away from Tank.

Another highlight was Ku trying to take a chair, not knowing they were zip tied, only to start kicking the tie hoping to release the chairs. He eventually said ‘fuck it’ and flipped off the chair I believe. I don’t know – I see Ku flip so many things off maybe I dreamt that.

Sadkampf gets smacked around, but ends up sneaking out a victory before getting smacked around a little more post-match. So much respect for all four dudes in this match – that made it a personal fave of mine.

8. Nick Gage vs. Swoggle (BLP Adventures in Wrestling) – No one knew what to expect here, but this was an absolute hoot. Swoggle came to throw hands with the fucking King and boy did he. I mean, the match started with Swoggle setting up chairs to bar fight with NICK GAGE. I was signed, sealed, and delivered right away, y’all. Swoggle fought his ass off, but he eventually fell thanks to a gnarly choke breaker followed up by two pile drivers. MDK.

7. Rock N Roll Express vs. LAX (Janela’s SB3 Pt. 2) – Not even gonna try and put this one into words. Go watch the Rock N Rollers show the fuck out right now.

6. Jonathan Gresham vs. Shigehiro Irie (BLP Adventures in Wrestling) – I’m a big Irie guy so I was beyond excited when he was announced as the replacement for Gresham. Another slobberknocker with both men landing violent offense. These two built a badass story that crescendoed with Gresham flying high to secure the win.

5. Eddie Kingston vs. Shinjiro Otani (AIW Slumber Party Massacre) – Had the pleasure of taking this match in with Brett after he took Stoney’s ticket. You could feel in the air how much respect Eddie has for Otani. He called this a legit ‘Dream Match’ for him, which made this that much more special.

Otani got the crowd going y’all. We had some hard hitting shit and a little bit of comedy which the audience appreciated. This was back and forth the whole way before Otani secured the pinfall. Again, so damn cool to see this one live.

4. Joey Janela vs. Marko Stunt (Janela’s SB3 Pt. 1) – The double return! This was awesome for us on so many levels as Marko has been keeping Poppa Bear in the know with his recovery so knowing how hard he’s worked to get back was something to see.

Not to mention he kicked off the insanity of Janela’s Spring Break with the man himself who was also returning from a nasty injury. This is one that’s hard to put into words because of all the crazy shit they did. Shout out to both men for doing the damn thing.

3. Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan (Wrestlemania 35) – The moment the entire world popped. I really don’t need to write anything for this one because well, we all know what this represented. Kofi has been a gem for so long and he finally got his moment in a certified humdinger of a match. We woke up this morning and it really was a new day.

2. Dominic Garrini vs. Joshua Bishop (AIW Slumber Party Massacre) – My fucking god this match ruled. It was ‘Survive or Surrender” rules, which basically means an “I Quit” match though ‘Survive or Surrender’ sounds way harder.

These two beat the absolute hell out of each other. They skewered each other’s faces (Dom took a few to the ear), Dom also got chucked off the stage and Bishop ate a few nasty shots to the dome with various paraphernalia. This didn’t end until Bishop, with help from Maserati Wes, handcuffed, then proceeded to douse Dom in lighter fluid. Garrini held out as long as he could but he had to surrender before he went up in flames. This ruled.

1. Sadkampf with Brett Ison vs. O’Shay Edwards, Cabana Man Dan and Mr. Brickster (Family Reunion) –  It was everything I wanted it to be. One of the only matches of the weekend that has been seriously building and the payoff was sensational.

All six men had their moments with some highlights being Brick hitting ‘Edge of Yikes’ on Ku, Brett’s disgusting ‘Street Justice’ to Brick, CMD fucking shit up with the flops per usual (not to mention securing the victory) and the “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” moment of the match O’Shay hitting one of the biggest boy moonsaults I’ve ever seen.

This was an absolute sprint that had us up from Jesse’s introductions all the way through the finish. There were a couple “SUP GRAPS” chants which says a ton as that show was loaded with great promotions.

I’m gonna say it again: we brought East Nashville to Jersey City, y’all.
