What’s Next for O’Shay Edwards? “Absolutely Everything” (Interview)

O’Shay Edwards has become one of the staples of Southern Underground Pro in East Nashville. Over the course of the past year, he’s gone from new face to leader, even getting a shot at Brett Ison and the Bonestorm Championship in March of this year.

After all the events that unfolded in SUP over the past year, Edwards was given the opportunity, alongside Cabana Man Dan and Mr. Brickster, to settle their differences with Ison, Dominic Garrini, and Kevin Ku in the ring at IndependentWrestling.TV’s Family Reunion. He and his teammates were successful – making the trip to Jersey City even more special.

During WrestleMania week, “The Big Bad Kaiju” saw battle twice, though. The day after Family Reunion, Edwards wrestled in Black Label Pro’s Million Dollar Battle Royal at Adventures In Wrestling. Though he wasn’t victorious, he still had a strong showing in the contest that garnered some buzz. Plus, we’re all hungry for that match or tag team run with Maria Manic now.

Edwards made the most of his opportunities. Those that saw him for the first time that week raised their eyebrows. The man is bursting with potential, and with the can-do attitude and never-say-die spirit that he has, the sky is the limit for his success.

He was kind enough to chat with me about his experience, as a whole, and what WrestleMania week meant to him.

Stoney’s Interview with O’Shay Edwards

SK: WrestleMania Week….wow – can you put into words what just happened? What did that week mean to you?

OE: I wish I had enough words…I wish I did. There were so many moments, so many emotions, but I’ll put it like this: “…it was everything I wanted and needed.”

SK: What was the week like for you and have you had a chance to catch your breath yet?

OE: I finally got over Mania Flu in a hotel room in Annapolis, MD. And getting a chance to take stock in it was the past year and a half finally boiling over and getting the North a chance to see what the South already had for 4 years nows.

SK: I think it’s safe to say that you guys stole the show at Family Reunion, if for no other reason than the electricity that jolted through the White Eagle Hall when you guys hit the ring. What do you think that match meant for SUP?

OE: It was the match of Family Reunion! And for SUP, it was an arrival. We had something to say and we wanted to say it LOUD AND CLEAR.

SK: We talk a lot about the pageantry of WrestleMania week, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that you guys went in there and got shit done. After MONTHS of the Bonestorm Champion, Brett Ison, and Sadkampf causing a lot of headaches for you and your teammates, do you feel vindicated in getting the win? Or, do you feel like there’s another chapter to write?

OE: It was bittersweet. I’m glad we all got the win but I wanted to do that in Nashville…this was just one chapter of a much larger book.

SK: You had a nice moment with your father after the victory – what was it like having him there to share this experience with you?

OE: …that moment is just for me, my dude. I’ve been waiting for that for a LONG time.

SK: You and Maria Manic stood out in the BLP battle royal – what would you rather have? A Manic-Edwards tag team run? Or, a one-on-one match with the Maneater?

OE: Yes.

SK: How many eliminations did you get in that battle royal?

OE: Total of eight, if we count joint eliminations.

SK: What would you have done with the million dollar prize had you won it?

OE: DEBT FREE BABY! And a new house on some serious land. Thatst just with 500K.

SK: I’ll give you the floor – any people/promotions you want to shout out?

OE: Easily…let’s get the business out of the way. Whatamaneuver, Curtain Jerker Designs, Of The Dead Designs, The Doodling Dork, and Lapel Yeah! Whew! To my people…Clint, Kevin, Allison, Chris, Pete, Sandra, and my lady Jessica who’s always been my #1.

SK: What’s next for O’Shay Edwards?

OE: Everything. Absolutely everything.
