Yeah, I’m nearly a month late getting this shit out. “WTF, Stoney?” I’m sure you’re all thinking – so, let’s not waste any time. My tail is tucked. Southern Underground Pro returned to The Basement East for an Easter Sunday matinee titled Hold Your Ground. Let’s hit the SUP Power Rankings.
Honorable Mentions
Can we say some nice things about Joshua Bishop? My God, that dude has been ON A TEAR since he and Dominic Garrini stole WrestleMania week. His match with Manders at Hold Your Ground was easily one of my favorite SUP matches in recent memory.
HAVE TO give props to Logan Stunt – he said he was going to kick Zach Cooper in the head and he did just that, winning the match in the process….even if it did mean he left Nashville with a handprint embedded into his back.
Anthony Henry got an impressive win over O’Shay Edwards, but whether or not this was a ‘one and done’ performance in Nashville remains to be seen. I certainly hope it wasn’t.
What on Earth has happened to Kevin Ku? He’s now 0-2 in last two SUP singles matches, losing to Marko Stunt and Allie Kat. He certainly remains as one of the most dangerous wrestlers in SUP, but he needs to get back into the win column.
SUP Power Rankings
10. Craig Mitchell – Craig was back in a SUP ring and got a big win over Jaden Newman. Mitchell was on a roll before missing April’s show, too. He’s lurking in the background right now, but I tell ya – he’s a threat.
9. Mr. Brickster – Brick was riding a colossal wave of momentum before April’s Hold Your Ground, but with the Action Wrestling Champion, A.C. Mack, opposite the ring from him this time, he did not get the job done.
8. A.C. Mack – Back to back wins in SUP for the guy. We know he’s holding it down in Georgia, but he’s starting to become a serious player in Tennessee, too.
7. Marko Stunt – Stunt is back in a SUP ring and beat one of its stalwarts in Ku. The last time we saw him in a ring he was defending (albeit unsuccessfully) the Bonestorm Championship. Pair that with the victory over Ku and you have a guy who’s poised for another run at the top.
6. O’Shay Edwards – Hard to fault the Big Bad Kaiju for what went down against Anthony Henry. That said, y’all know my rule by now – a loss is a loss is a loss. Edwards slips out of the top five this time.
5. The One Called Manders – Welcome to the top five, Manders! In one of the best matches on one of the best shows in SUP history, Manders stood out, taking a major beating from Joshua Bishop and still pulling out the win. He’s now 3-0 in a SUP ring.
4. Cabana Man Dan – What a big win for Dan – defeating Matthew Justice in an outright fight proves just how credible CMD is, especially with those flip flops in hand. Could we be seeing him make a run at the Bonestorm Championship? I certainly think he deserves to be in the conversation.
3. Dominic Garrini – He beat six dudes, y’all. What the fuck else is there to say? The Bone Collector can add that to an impressive 2019 that’s already seen him defeat #4 Cabana Man Dan, too.
2. Allie Kat – Allie Kat got another victory, this time over the debuting Logan Easton Laroux. At this point, she is undeniable. She’s gone 5-0 in matches that are not battle royals in SUP since losing to Tripp Cassidy last June. She’s the rightful number one contender, and I, for one, am happy to see those results rewarded with a shot at the champ.
1.Brett Ison – Different month, different opponent, same results. You can add J.D. Drake to the list of people to fall victim to The Pitbull – that’s quite an impressive list that seems to grow every weekend – The Carnies, Marko Stunt, Nick fuckin’ Gage, O’Shay Edwards, and now Drake…the king stay the king.
