I’m not even going to look up the name of this Louisville pitcher. I just watched the Louisville-Vandy game from Jonathan’s in Mount Juliet Friday night as tornadoes raged overhead. I’m not baseball guy, but this seemed like it was a really good game – the Commodores win, they’re on to the College World Series, the drunk Vandy fans in the bar get to go home happy and hopefully without driving into a ditch. That’s that – nice little cap on a nice little Friday night.
Welp, then I got home and saw Twitter blowing up over this clip, and it was absolutely hilarious:

Look, I’m all for a little trash talk. I’ll be the first to drop a little “YOU LIKE THAT” on somebody. But, you have to know when to pull the outright disrespect card. Let’s give this kid the benefit of the doubt and say that Vandy was chirping at him and he was feeling himself after tossin’ a few Ks. You still absolutely cannot drop disrespect like “fuck you” until the game’s over. If Vandy did something that genuinely made this kid lose respect for them, then he’s gotta wait ’til after the game to say “fuck you.” You have to insure that you have the authority of a winner to pull something like that.
Otherwise, you just look like an ass when you end up losing the damn game with your entire season on the line.
All that said, I absolutely love this move – I’m glad it happened, solely for the entertainment value. It was an instant lesson in karma. It’s Kenny Powers-esque, and I guess this is pretty good comedy. Just sucks for Louisville that this is the aftertaste in their mouths after a successful season.
