SUP: Those Who Fear Tomorrow Recap

Normally, I would have a funny intro to kick things off. The truth is, to quote my guy Deshawn2Cents, this show fucked magnum style. There’s simply no time for reindeer games. Let’s get it.

Jeremy Wyatt vs. Jaden Newman- Kicking things off was a humdinger of a matchup between two guys that have been crushing the game as of late. Dare I say that Jeremy may have overlooked Jaden a bit though it didn’t take long for him to figure out that ole Numero Uno is on a mission. Things looked to be in Jaden’s favor until Manders, once again, interjected himself into the fray. Grabbing Jaden’s foot was just enough for Wyatt to take advantage and secure a win in his SUP debut. Another great performance by Jaden leading to a super tough loss.

Craig Mitchell vs. Logan Stunt- There is a lot to talk about from this show and I really, really hope this match doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. Craig, noted psychopath, seemed to be having fun with Logan early on. “The One Kick Man” showed that he’s not part of the fucking around crew and gave just as good as he got. These dudes beat the hell out of each other y’all. It took one of the nastiest, grossest, most disgusting looking package piledrivers to keep Logan down. Another win under the SUP banner for Crrraaaaaiiiiiiiggggg.

Rockin Rivera vs. James Bandy [Sink or Swim]- Rockin hit the ring in a shirt that read ‘Pussy, Money, Weed’ which led Poppa Bear to announce that his shirt would say ‘Pussy, Money, Biscuits and Gravy.’ I nearly passed out from laughter. Thankfully, I pulled it together as both of these guys really needed a win at SUP. I expected a knockdown, drag out fight but honestly this was over pretty quick. Rockin gets the win in a little bit of an upset.

Graham Bell vs. Manders- How do you combat The Cornbelt Cowboy? You bring a goddamn bazooka, that’s how. Another matchup that I hope gets some shine because it was crazy with a capital CRAZY. E summed it up perfectly as ‘Deadpool vs. Cable.’ Perfectly, because both of these men will die for this shit but we’re not sure if either can die. Manders tried as he chucked Bell into the famous Basement East beam from the middle of the ring. We all thought this was it and Manders was gonna get the count out victory but Bell said fuck all that as he made it back inside the ring just as the ten count would have concluded. How Bell stood, let alone went to fisticuffs with Manders is a modern marvel. The man fought through it all but The Manders Summer Tour rolls through Nashville, but not before picking up another win.

Bonestorm Title: Brett Ison (c) vs. Allie Kat- This match had ‘Some Kind of Special’ written all over it. Short of maybe the Violence is Forever guys, I’m not sure if there are two other names that scream out SUP like these do. Allie is the heart and soul of SUP, whereas Brett is the judge, jury and executioner. It was destined for greatness but I’m here to say that the actual match blew those expectations out of the water. We saw a Brett Ison that we have never seen at SUP. Brett not wanting to pull that trigger….dare I say even trying to be compassionate. Allie was having none of it though. She knew what was in store for her and she wanted everything Brett had.

She took it all including a Street Justice which took all of the energy out of the building. When she kicked out I thought the building was gonna shoot right off. A perfect mixture of shock and excitement filled The Basement East like I hadn’t felt before. The two fought to the outside where Brett was going to attempt the ‘Pussy Piledriver’ on the concrete! Allie reversed leading to Brett’s back eating that concrete like it was a snack. As he made his way back in the ring Allie caught him in the ropes and landed a filthy slingshot ‘Pussy Piledriver’ of her own. It felt like it was the moment the SUP crowd was ready for, but Brett was able to get that shoulder up before two. There was a serious uneasiness in the building from there on.

The ultimate battle of Kat vs. Dog ended when Brett sunk in a Dragon Sleeper literally out of nowhere. Allie fought as long as she good but she had to tap. Brett retains in an absolute classic.

With the win, Brett retained his title but also clinched a spot in the 2019 SCI Tournament. A legit banner day for The Pitbull. The two competitors shared a moment post match that had the crowd in a frenzy. So much respect for both of these badasses. I’m really not doing this match justice peeps – you need to search this out as soon as it drops.

Scramble: Adam Slade vs. Lord Crewe vs. Xander Killen vs. Alan Angels vs. Bradley Prescott IV-  Just before ring announcements for these fine gents Jaden Newman hit the ring and literally added himself to the match. No arguments here.

Scramble: Adam Slade vs. Lord Crewe vs. Xander Killen vs. Alan Angels vs. Bradley Prescott IV vs. Jaden Newman- This was goddamn madness. I don’t know how else to sum it up. Fun moments for everyone highlighted, for me, by the infamous BPIV keg stand. There was a whole lot of shaking going on until Jaden saw his moment and secured the damn bag. That’s right Jaden Newman got the win and will now go one on one with Manders in August. Their post match staredown was goooooood stuff peeps. LFG.

AC Mack Open Challenge: AC Mack vs. Peyton Polson- I can’t put into words how excited the SoBros were when we realized Peyton was gonna answer the challenge. We’ve been waiting for someone to bang on AC for a while and Peyton looked to be the man for the job. He came out like a bunch of bottle rockets wrapped up in firecrackers. Everything was coming up Polson until AC kicked him in the dick leading right to the Mack 10. Peyton may not have gotten the win but goddamn did he take it to AC which will always be appreciated.

SUP Tag Titles (No DQ): Violence is Forever (Dominic Garrini and Kevin Ku) vs. They Might Be Giants (Cabana Man Dan and Marko Stunt)- Much like Brett/Allie, I’m not gonna be able to give this insanity it’s due. The entire match was fucking bonkers which included skewers, big time chair shots and flip flops with tacks glued to the bottom. There was blood y’all and a lot of it. I’m pretty sure by the finish, all four men were bleeding in some fashion which tells you the kind of punishment that was dished out. I just remembered that Dom gave Marko a piledriver from the middle rope to a steel chair. All hail. Along the way, the canvas was tore up leading us to a gruesome cradle piledriver to CMD from Ku on the bare boards. With that, Violence is Forever becomes the inaugural SUP tag team champions.

No doubt this show was highlighted by two very different but very awesome title matches. The main event was brutal fun whereas the Bonestorm Title match may be my favorite SUP match ever because of the story and downright out of this world performances by Brett and Allie. Throw in a couple of super sleeper matchups like Craig vs. Logan/ Manders vs. Bell and you’ve got yourself a card we are gonna be taking about the rest of the summer. SUP will be back at The Basement East on August 4th as they will be closing out SCI weekend with “All Hell Breaks Loose.”
