Quick post alert. Just going to be passing along some news that I thought was pretty interesting and optimistic. Apparently, the Tennessee Titans tackle pretty well. Pro Football Focus has graded them as the seventh best in the entire NFL and the first place best in the AFC South. Cool.

I know stats and data can generally be manipulated to spin how you want, and I’m still a firm believer in the good old-fashioned eye test. But, it’s June and there’s nothing else to write about right now. PFF has its detractors, sure, but I generally believe that the work they’re doing is insightful.
And, to a guy who watched the Titans give up big play after big play and miss a million tackles every game just a few short seasons ago, it’s certainly a relief.
It’s possible to read beyond just the numbers, though.
This is evidence of the current Titans regime’s willingness to quickly identify problems and put in the work and resources to fix it. It’s a measure of ‘back to basics’ so to speak and paying attention to detail so that you have a foundation to build upon. How do you work on coverage and blitz schemes when your guys can’t even tackle right? Damn, y’all – maybe it’s just because it’s June, but I’m fired up.
The Titans defense is poised to be another top-10 unit in 2019, but they’ve come a long, long way since 2015.
