Nashville SC : Daniel Rios and the case of the missing Golden Boot

Potential Golden Boot. Nashville. Professional Soccer. Three years ago, hell last year, those were words not even whispered in back alleys. This team is not only scoring at an alarming rate, but there doesn’t seem to be a slowing point.

Daniel Rios. Not only is he currently the team MVP, but he makes everyone around him play at a MVP caliber. The passes, the shots, the goals. Is there anything he can’t do? Rios is tied for the league lead in goals. Lebo Moloto is second in the USL Championship in assists. This is Nashville, right?

The team is really firing on all cylinders, but it starts right on the foot of Rios.

Side note: I know offense doesn’t ‘necessarily translate to defense’ but this is soccer. This offensive juggernaut team also averages 0.9 goals allowed per game. Matt Pickens is tied for third in clean sheets, but is 31st in saves. The team controls the ball and the defense is stifling.

Daniel Rios. MVP. Golden Boot. Ring it up
