“The Wrestling Genius,” Daniel Makabe, came to Chattanooga, Tennessee for SCI weekend 2019 and delivered one of the greatest performances in the tournament’s history.
He wrestled what many (myself included) called the ‘Match of the Weekend’ in the first round against Tony Deppen, and followed that up with a splendid match opposite Slim J on Night 2, earning a spot in the finals. Unfortunately, his ear was nearly torn off – literally. So, it took nothing short of a miracle effort for him to come out during the 2019 SCI Finals and force A.C. Mack to tap. But, in doing so, he became the 5th Scenic City Invitational winner, capping off a brilliant weekend.
Makabe was kind enough to give us some time last week to sit down and chat with our independent wrestling correspondent, John Mosley, about the weekend and much, much more.
