Southern Underground Pro returned to The Basement East in East Nashville last Sunday for All Hell Breaks Loose. It was the culminating event of SCI weekend 2019, and delivered – but that’s nothing new to fans of SUP. I have nearly 900 words coming your way, so let’s not waste anymore time. Let’s hit the power rankings!
Honorable Mentions
First up, I have to give a shout out to Zachary Cooper. Dude is out there wrestling a physical style that has caught the eyes of the SUP faithful. He suffered an unfortunate shoulder injury in his match against Dominic Garrini. Despite his being a pompous ass to the crowd, I think I can speak for the entire SoBros Network team when I say get well soon, Zach – we can’t wait to boo your ass out of the building again.
I can’t help but wonder how the match with A.C. Mack would have gone had Logan Stunt not been decked with a chair prior to it starting. Stunt has been one of the fastest risers in SUP this year.
Alex Zayne made his SUP debut and showed The Basement East exactly why he’s been blowing up wrestling Twitter on a routine basis this summer. Unfortunately, all the highlights don’t mean more than wins and losses. The bottom line is Zayne took the loss at the hands of Craig Mitchell. Hopefully, this wasn’t the last we’ve seen of “The Sauce,” though, as the dude is an outright electric factory.
It was a damn bad afternoon for Manders. Not only did he lose to Jaden Newman, he followed it up with a loss to Dominic Garrini. After going all year without a loss, he suddenly has two from the same evening. The Cornbelt Cowboy is our biggest slider in this edition of the SUP Power Rankings.
SUP Power Rankings: All Hell Breaks Loose
10. Alan Angels – YABOI is sneaking into the SUP Power Rankings for the first time by virtue of a singles win over Bradley Prescott IV.
9. O’Shay Edwards – The roar when The Big Bad Kaiju returned to The Basement East was deafening. He couldn’t follow it up with a win in the Bonestorm Championship match, but he certainly looked good nonetheless. I still say he’s owed a one-on-one shot at Brett Ison.
8. Allie Kat – The heart and soul of SUP was not in action at All Hell Breaks Loose, but that doesn’t negate the year she’s had in The Basement East prior to it.
7. B-Boy – An impressive SUP debut for the New Age Punisher saw him pick up a win over one of the promotion’s longest and steadiest mainstays. We’re all certainly hoping there’s more B-Boy in SUP in the future.
6. Jaden Newman – The undefeated streak of The One Called Manders is over thanks to El Numero Uno. Suddenly, Newman finds himself soaring up the SUP Power Rankings with wins in consecutive shows.
5. Cabana Man Dan – Dan had arguably the biggest win of his SUP career at All Hell Breaks Loose when he defeated his longtime friend and tag team partner Marko Stunt. It was an emotional, hard-fought win that firmly established Dan as one of the cornerstones of Southern Underground Pro.
4. Violence Is Forever – Dominic Garrini and Kevin Ku didn’t compete in tag team action, instead opting for singles matches at All Hell Breaks Loose. “The Bone Collector” picked up an impressive win over Manders, but Ku tallied a loss at the hands of B-Boy. That said, we can’t allow the SUP Tag Team Champions to slide too far considering they’re still in possession of that SUP Tag Team Trophy.
3. Craig Mitchell – “The Midwest Bully” was climbing the SUP Power Rankings anyway. That was before picking up an impressive win against the hottest star of the summer, “The Sauce” Alex Zayne. Mitchell sealed the deal with a murderous package piledriver from the second rope. It’s time we start putting Mitchell in the conversation among Bonestorm Championship contenders.
2. A.C. Mack – Another win, and although the means by which he secured the win over Logan Stunt are questionable at best, Mack’s undefeated streak in SUP continues. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen someone take over as quickly as Mack has. Based on the fact that he attacked Brett Ison at the conclusion of the show, I’d say he’s jockeying for a shot at the throne.
1. Brett Ison – We’ve talked about the year The Pitbull is having on this site and Checks and Championships ad nauseam. But, just when we think Ison can’t get any hotter, he goes and does something like win a Fatal 4-Way against O’Shay Edwards, J.D. Drake, and Anthony Henry. It may very well have been his biggest challenge as Bonestorm Champion to date, and he came out victorious. The king stay the king.
