Now Is No Time to Give up on Arkansas Football

Maybe I came in a little too hot on Arkansas football this season.

It’s weird – I know. Just one of those weird little SoBros subplots (like me getting a Bath & Body Works sponsorship) that pop up from time to time. I have gone down a rabbit hole and have somehow become heavily invested in Arkansas football.

I feel like I’ve actually probably watched more of the Arkansas Razorbacks than I have my own team so far this season (Roll Tide). But, that’s what happens when you put the entirety of your journalistic credibility on a completely unproven head coach and a program that went 0-8 in the SEC a season ago.

I’m sweatin’ it out, y’all.

I boldly proclaimed that Chad Morris was the guy for Arkansas, and I went out on a limb and said I L O V E D the vision behind drastically changing the philosophy of that team. Like, “yeah fuck it – let’s run Morris’ offense with players that Bret Bielema brought in!”

And, now I’m sitting here – having become a full blown bandwagon Arkansas fan – just feeling like an idiot. I mean, first of all, shouldn’t it be the other way around? Shouldn’t I be an Arkansas fan jumping ship to be an Alabama fan? My head works funny. Instead, I’m like, “the team y’all HAVE to watch in 2019? The Arkansas Razorbacks, LFG.”

The point I’m trying to make here, and now I’m speaking to my fellow Razorbacks fans, so everyone else can just tune out now – is that just because they didn’t upset Ole Miss, the season is not over. They are fully capable of starting the season 3-1 (they’re 9.5-point favorites (down from 10) this weekend against Colorado State). Then, they just have to beat Western Kentucky later in the season to DOUBLE their win total from 2018.

That’s a win, baby. Things are pointing up at 4-8!

I would encourage Razorbacks fans who probably know way more about Arkansas football than I do and are probably thinking, “this guy has no business talking about our team” to just weather the storm.

This isn’t the time to give up. No sireeee, Bob. This is the time for us, as Arkansas fans, to come together and show solidarity.
