Brittany and Jesse are back for a brand new episode of the VHS-centric podcast, Haunted Home Video. On Episode 05, they’re diving into the 2003 flick, Wrong Turn, which Jesse found digging around at Southern Thrift.
Here’s the synopsis from IMDB:
Six people find themselves trapped in the woods of West Virginia, hunted down by “cannibalistic mountain men grossly disfigured through generations of in-breeding.”
So, we have some psycho hillbillies going ape shit on people. Jesse says, “it’s fun. it went by really fast.” Brittany adds, “sometimes, movies like this overstay their welcome.”
It’s a very tense movie, but did it deserve the R rating? These psycho hillbillies aren’t using guns and knives…more shredding people’s faces up with barbwire and the ol’ reliable bow and arrow. The torches are a nice touch, too…which begs the question: would you rather jump from a watch tower or burn alive?
Somehow, we get on the lack of jobs in West Virginia….which is probably why people are up in the hills killing people and shit. Saw-Tooth, One-Eye, and Three Finger aren’t there to fuck around and Wrong Turn gets off to a hot start when homie is thrown off a damn cliff. The important lesson there? Don’t go rock climbing in the woods of West Virginia.
