Weekend Recap: Resolute and KAPOW Wrestling

I was back on road this past weekend with shows in Crossville and Knoxville! Resolute put on one of their more loaded cards of the year while the first trip to KAPOW Wrestling gave us a show with plenty to talk about. Let’s kick things off with some highlights from Resolute Wrestling: A Hero’s Welcome.

Resolute Wrestling: A Hero’s Welcome

So the second match of the night was a ‘Last Man Standing’ smash fest that was capped off with Draven Lee leaping off a van to put Dustin Johns through a door via Swanton Bomb. Crowd was hoooootttt to say the least.

Tri State Championship- Jaden Newman (c) vs. Peyton Polson: Two legit young gunz just going. 100% my jam. This was a lot of fun and had the Resolute faithful going loco from the jump. Coming off the cray cray from the match before, it’s a real testament to both these guys to keep that kind of energy up and not let the crowd drop a bit. Nasty offense and slick reversals leading to Jaden retaining with the First to Last elbow. I expect 2020 to be a huge year for both men.

Brett Ison vs. Caleb Courageous vs. Chris Crunkk vs. ‘Slick’ Willy Brewer: Total madness y’all. These four went all out from the jump. Big boy chops and slaps before we got into some serious offense. We saw a little bit of an alliance from The Death Dealers (Ison/Brewer) but that didn’t particularly last. In the end, Ison hits Street Justice on Crunkk only for Couragous to fly in with a double stomp! Caleb gets the pin on Chris Crunkk to lock up the win and a shot at the Resolute Undisputed Championship.

P4P Championship- Wayne Moxxi (c) vs. Toby Farley: For those uninitiated, this matchup may not have “assbeater” written all over it, but I assure you these two enjoy hitting each other. Like, a lot. Highlighted by brutal offense, this had so many twists and turns. After hitting a gnarly Tombstone, it appeared that Toby had the win and title secured. Nope. Moxxi fights back, leading to a flash of offense capped off with a frog splash. Another huge win for Moxxi in his impressive 2019 campaign.

KAPOW Wrestling: In Too Deep

Luscious Lawrence Open Challenge: LL vs. Wayne Moxxi vs. Tyler Foshie vs. JC Adams: This was a blast from start to finish! Lawrence has to face down three speedy dudes that can make offense out of nothing. All four dudes had major moments along the way, but I’ve gotta say, JC Adams really brought it. Dude was shaking and baking with a really kickass sequence with the big bodied Lawrence. Moxxi is always good for a banger and Tyler Foshie is a name you’re gonna hear more of in 2020. Luscious Lawrence wins after coming off the top rope with a sick splash. If you don’t know Luscious Lawrence, look him up then let it simmer that a guy that big has a splash in his back pocket. Crazy scary.

Kenzie Paige Henry vs. Chase Jordan: I don’t know what all I can say about this match, as it was some Fight Club shit. The two started by trading blows and really didn’t stop from there. At one point, Kenzie ate a spear from the apron to the hardwood, which looked/sounded/was so sick. Late in the match, Chase pulls an Eddie Guerrero with the ole “toss you a chair then act like I was hit.” The ref didn’t go for it, though. As he was putting the chair to the outside, Chase had another chair stashed, which he used to hit Kenzie with before dropping her with The Badger Bite for the 1-2-3.

KAPOW Championship- Myron Reed (c) vs. Brett Ison: No one will be surprised to hear this was very, very good. Myron was flying all over the place early before Brett caught him on a cross body, then dropped him like a ton of bricks. The crowd was nearly split with chants of “Hot Fiya” and “Pitbull” filling the air.

Later on, Myron took flight, only to eat an elbow that had the entire building shook. Other highlights included Brett following up a powerbomb by slapping on a cloverleaf. Myron hitting a springboard 450 splash and reversing out of a choke breaker with a legit back flip.

The match absolutely crushed, but ended with a bit of a mishap. The ref was out of position and missed Brett getting his shoulder up before counting to three. Myron retains and there was absolutely no hard feelings from Ison post match. The two respect each other, so much and that showed from bell to post match. I’m ready for Reed/Ison II right now!
