We don’t exactly write about Monteagle a lot on this site. You might read about the mileage that damn mountain takes off of our vehicles as we drive over it to get to Chattanooga. You might read about the CAMOFLONGE sign at the flea market. But, that’s about it. Well, folks – that’s going to change today, because I will no longer refer to Monteagle as “that mountain you have to drive over to get to Chattanooga.”
I’m officially declaring the Monteagle-Tracy City area a bona fide vacation hub and a potential retirement destination.
I’m just perusing Reddit yesterday and I see a post about some tiny homes in Tracy City. Of course, I’m not the type to just scroll past stuff. If something should capture my interest, I’m totally going to obsess over it. So, I went down this rabbit hole on this company’s website. Turns out, they have a community of tiny homes in Monteagle…
So, you can buy these homes. Of course, you can rent these things, too. At least, I think that’s the dynamic here. I didn’t bother reading any of the fine print. I was too caught up in the majesty of nature to pay attention to things like that, which I’m sure is not at all the intent of the marketing and branding of this place.
But, now they’re working on one in Tracy City, too.
This is the shit.
Where do I sign up? I’ll empty my fuckin’ 401k RIGHT NOW to go move into a tiny home out by the lake or out by the mountain. You people have driven me to this. But, I like a good tiny home – people always talk about the novelty of it. They watch those shows on HGTV and think they’re so cute, but nobody ever acts on ’em.
WHY?
You don’t see this happening in Nashville, but I hear an awful lot of people say, “oh if I could, I’d just move into a tiny home in the middle of nowhere.” NEWSFLASH, PAL: here is your chance to nut up or shut up!
This looks like the most peaceful and serene place on Earth. PLUS, you’re close to a Waffle House. What MORE could you POSSIBLY ask for?
Essentially, what I’m trying to say is that the tiny home movement could be the way of the future, and also that if I go missing, this is probably the first place you should look. Chances are, I’ve finally gotten fed up with people and have wandered off to live in solitude.
I think I’ve found my calling. And, as much as the billboards want to tell me, it ain’t the Smokies.
