Ryan Tannehill deserves a little MVP love for that Week 12 performance (MVP Watch)

"Big Natural" Stoney Keeley is back for another week of the NFL MVP Watch on SoBros Network.

Welcome in to the 2019 NFL MVP Watch, where I will be taking a look around the landscape of the MVP race in the NFL this season. This is pretty much the same thing as my Heisman Watch, sooooo…like, do I want to spend a lot of time on an intro?

Shit, I guess I will for the uninitiated – each week, I will count down the five most MVP-worthy performances of the week and offer up my reasoning for each ranking. You finish first, you get five points. Second is four, so on and so forth. I will keep the season point totals going at the bottom of the article and at the end of the season, whoever has the most points gets the 2019 SoBros Network NFL MVP “honors.”

2019 NFL MVP WATCH: WEEK 12

5. Joe Schobert, Brown LB – How about the Browns linebacker these last two weeks?!?! 15 total tackles, a sack, EIGHT passes deflected and a whopping FOUR interceptions. Let’s show this man some love, y’all.

4. Chris Godwin, Buccaneers WR – Props to Godwin and Mike Evans for making up the best receiving tandem in the league. What a shame that it’s being wasted on a lost season in Tampa Bay. Nonetheless, credit where credit’s due – Godwin and Evans are both over the 1,000-yard mark for 2019, and are 2nd and 3rd in the NFL in receiving yards on the season. Godwin led the NFL in receiving yards this week with seven catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

3. Derrick Henry, Titans RB – King Henry owns the Jacksonville Jaguars, and could very well be the key cog to that Titans offense that has seen a total resurgence in the last five games. He led the league in rushing this week with 159 yards and two touchdowns. He’s now 4th in the NFL in rushing yards on the season. D-Henber came a little early this year.

2. Ryan Tannehill, Titans QB – Making the switch to Tannehill could have very well saved the season for the Titans. His 155.8 passer rating led the NFL this week, as he went 14/18 for 259 yards and two touchdowns. He also tacked on 40 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground. Don’t look now, but on the season, Tannehill has crept up to 2nd in completion percentage (72.1) and 4th in passer rating (111.4). Ryan Tannehill playing the best ball of his career and might actually be a contender for MVP had he started the whole season and played like this.

1. Lamar Jackson, Ravens QB – I don’t know that we’ve ever seen a quarterback as dynamic as Jackson, and he’s starting to really pull away from the rest of the pack in the 2019 MVP race. Against the Rams last night, he was 15/20 for 169 yards, FIVE passing touchdowns, with an additional 95 rushing yards. Think about that for a minute – a third of the dude’s completed passes went for touchdowns. Insane.
