Welcome in to a new feature we are trying out here on SoBros Network because we were recently approved to be on Google News (YUGE win, LFG), and I am testing whether or not it’s worth doing these sorts of power rankings for the SEO. Yes, that’s the entire basis for this set of NFL Power Rankings.
For me, it’s pretty simple. I’m just looking at wins and losses, and I’m looking at the eye test to determine my top 10 teams in the NFL each week. LFG.
NFL POWER RANKINGS: WEEK 10 2019
1. San Francisco 49ers (8-0) – Who would’ve said that we’d be sitting here in November with the 49ers being the last undefeated team in the NFL back in August? They survived a scare against a competitive Cardinals team, but behind the majesty of Handsome Jimmy G, they left with a win. They can beat you in so many ways. At this point, I’m ready to call them the best team in football. They host Seattle in a HUGE Monday night showdown.
2. New Orleans Saints (7-1) – The Saints were off this week, and figure to improve to 8-1 as they host the Atlanta Falcons this weekend. But, that December 8th game against the 49ers is looming. That one could end up deciding homefield advantage in the NFC.
3. New England Patriots (8-1) – You’re a fool if you think Bill Belichick wasn’t playing the long game against the Ravens on Sunday. He threw everything he had at Lamar Jackson to see how he’d react. He was preparing for January. Sure, there are some question marks surrounding this team, but are you really buying in on the idea that the Ravens can go to Foxborough and win, potentially with an appearance in the Super Bowl on the line? They’re off this week before traveling to Philadelphia on 11/10.
4. Baltimore Ravens (6-2) – That win over the Pats firmly entrenches them as the #2 team in the AFC, but how do you look past that ugly loss at home to a terrible Cleveland Browns squad? If not for that, maybe I would bump ’em up ahead of the Pats. They are built to win in the playoffs – I just don’t know that I trust ’em to do that just yet. I’d say they validated themselves as a legitimate Super Bowl contender this week, though. They travel to Cincinnati this week, where they should absolutely throttle the Bengals.
5. Seattle Seahawks (7-2) – The Seahawks just keep finding ways to win. You wonder when the clock is going to strike midnight on Russell Wilson and his miracle performances, but they just don’t seem to go away. This Monday night game against the 49ers should be an accurate gauge of where this team is really at.
6. Green Bay Packers (7-2) – That loss to the Los Angeles Chargers was a bad one for Green Bay. One of those losses that you just have to try and put behind you and move on. They’ll get the chance when they host Carolina this weekend, but it won’t be easy.
7. Houston Texans (6-3) – Alright, let’s say it. The Texans are in the race in the AFC. They have a bona fide MVP candidate in Deshaun Watson. Their only losses on the season have come to the Saints, Panthers, and Colts. They’re off this week before returning for a stretch that should help define just where this team belongs in the AFC – @ Ravens, vs. Colts, vs. Patriots.
8. Kansas City Chiefs (6-3) – I’ll give this team some credit. I thought they’d be dead in the water without Patrick Mahomes against the Vikings. But, they showed some gumption and gutted out a tough win against a team I called a dark horse Super Bowl contender a week ago. They should improve to 7-3 with a trip to Nashville to play the Titans on deck.
9. Minnesota Vikings (6-3) – One loss isn’t going to undo the work the Vikings have put in all season long. But, at this point, their only real quality wins of the season have come against the Eagles and Raiders. They’re going to have to prove they can hang with the elite teams if they expect to win a championship. They’ll get a crack at the Dallas Cowboys in a sneaky good Sunday Night Football game.
10. Los Angeles Rams (5-3) – The Rams return to action this week to play a hot Pittsburgh Steelers team that suddenly finds itself back in the hunt in the AFC North and AFC Wild Card race.
CURRENT SUPER BOWL PREDICTION
49ers over Patriots – The Niners are the most complete and the best team in football. At this point, they’re the last remaining unbeaten. Hell, why not predict them winning the Super Bowl?
I’ll check back next week with a brand new edition of the NFL Power Rankings. LFG.
