Peak Redneck: We’re Line Dancing to Nickelback Now

I used to consider myself one of the Nickelback haters. I mean, let’s be real – we all were at some point or another, right?! Their work was complete fodder for comedy, and everyone was in on the joke. But, after an insightful conversation with a couple of co-workers back in 2013, I thought, “you know what? I’m not going to keep hating on this band that makes music that makes SOME people happy and has been able to make a living doing it.”

So, I stopped all the Nickelback shit talk. Hell, I dare say I even took up for them on a couple of occasions. I still say ‘Leader of Men’ is a helluva song!

Well, folks – I am here today to say that I am officially back in the Nickelback hater camp after seeing this TikTok:

What the FUCK, guys?! When did this become a thing?

I mean, I’ve never been much of a line dancer. I tried it out a few times to impress a woman and was absolutely embarrassingly miserable at it. So miserable that she actually pushed me off the dance floor and told me, “don’t worry about it.” I don’t know why, but it feels like that’s the hillbilly version of “happens all the time” or “what a small dick” – when a redneck woman tells you to get off the dance floor, you know you done fucked up.

But, even from where I sit, line dancing to Nickelback seems like a gross misuse of time and energy. I was under the impression that line dancing was strictly reserved for REAL country music like Little Texas and Shenandoah. What’s next? Line dancing to Big & Rich? PFFFTTT. GTFOH.

Have some class you rednecks. You’re way out of line with this egregious act of disrespect to country music.

PS. Shout out to TikTok for being my primary source of entertainment in 2019.
