Hal Mumme Coached 2.5 Quarters With a Broken Freaking Leg

As it turns out, Dallas Renegades offensive coordinator Hal Mumme broke his leg on this hit from Cameron Artis-Payne, but kept coaching anyway.

I don’t want to hear any XFL slander on my feed. We got people breaking their damn legs and finishing games. This is A COACH we’re talking about, no less. During last weekend’s game Dallas Renegades offensive coordinator Hal Mumme took a shot from Cameron Artis-Payne, and as it turned out, he BROKE HIS FUCKING LEG….but finished the game.

You WISH you were this tough. This is right up there with Kurt Angle winning an Olympic gold medal with a broken freakin’ neck. One of the all time gutsy performances. Two and a half more quarters coached with just one good leg. How do you block that out? Forget physical toughness….think of the mental toughness it would take to pull this off without completely breaking down. We probably need to add Mumme to the Clutch Hall of Fame after this. Matter of fact…I think I will.

Mumme later retweeted this clip with the comment, “I’m not soft #AirRaid” – holy shit. What a big time tough guy move. I wouldn’t want to stumble upon Hal Mumme in a dark alley. He probably eats thumbtacks for breakfast. This man is double tough. The epitome of rubbin’ some dirt on it and walking it off. Legend.

This story would’ve had a perfect storybook ending had the Renegades actually won the game. Long live Hal Mumme. Long live the XFL.
