I saw this last week, and figured it would be all over the local news. I was super busy, and couldn’t get around to writing about it, but damn – if no one else is going to cover it, I guess I’ll be the one to step up (a week later). We already knew that New England Patriots head coach, the greatest coach in the history of the NFL, Bill Belichick, is a big time Nashville guy.
But, what we didn’t know, is how much he loves the culture down here. Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk and Rock n’ Roll Steakhouse posted a photo of Belichick taking in the scenery from their establishment last week…
Can you imagine being out downtown and running into this man? And, he’s actually SMILING!?! GTFOH – this is mind-blowing stuff.
Turns out he was scouting Middle Tennessee State DE/OLB Tyshun Render down in Murfreesboro. Imagine how that would feel? Being the prospect that pulls Belichick away from the NFL Scouting Combine. I mean, it helps that you have the selling point of Nashville right in your backyard. Maybe Belichick was trying to sell this as, “yeah, yeah – I’m going down for work…but…y’know…Nashville is just right there.” He’s even more brilliant than we realized.
When Jon Robinson was hired as the general manager of the Titans, people said Nashville was basically going to become Patriots South. But, I didn’t think it would literally be Patriots legends coming to town and throwing down like this.
We know Rob Gronkowski holds Nashville in high regard. He pops up in town from time to time. Tom Brady has been sniffin’ around. Now, Bill Belichick is taking in some of the city’s finest culture. It’s crazy, and very literally becoming Patriots South around here.
Can we go ahead and declare Bill Belichick the grand marshal of the 2020 Nashville Christmas Parade?
