Last week, news broke that the NFL was tinkering around with the idea of letting up a bit on their guidelines that require teams to stick to one helmet throughout the season. A potential change could take place as early as 2021, but nothing’s set in stone just yet. Still, the idea of throwback uniforms spread like wildfire throughout fan bases that have some of those high quality uniforms to throw back to. Specifically in Seattle when Russell Wilson tweeted out a photoshopped photo of him in that vintage Seahawks uniform with the bright blue, the bright green, and the silver helmet.

The NFL can be such a stick in the mud. I mean, everyone’s talking about these vintage Seahawks uniforms, the Patriot unis with the actual patriot on ’em, and the Bucs creamsicle unis. They nearly accomplished their goal of removing all the fun out of uniforms.
I almost completely forgot about this badass vintage Seahawks uniform, and all of the other badass throwbacks, too. The NFL was that close to eradicating something really cool from my memory. That’s why I’m happy that people continued to fight the good fight, and now we’re on the brink of bringing back some really cool shit.
I remember back in elementary school, we had a pencil machine in the front office. For a whole quarter, you could get a cool pencil. They had the NFL line, and one day, I was #BlEsSeD enough to get the sick silver Seahawks pencil. I also had a Rick Mirer trading card. What I’m trying to say is I know all about those badass silver Seahawks helmets.
Seeing this photoshopped photo brings back fond memories of my childhood.
