Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Question:
If football gets canceled this year. What would you do every weekend?
— sobrostan (@sobrostan) August 13, 2020
Answer:
That’s a scary proposition, no lie. For as long as I can remember, football has been the staple of every fall….I plan my life around football. Some might call that sad, but I am a grown ass man that makes no apologies for the way that I am.
The prospects of no season….I don’t know, Stan. I think we’re going to get some form of football this fall, at least for a little while. But, to answer your question, I will probably spend more time with my fiancé, will probably watch more movies, read more books, and honestly, I think I might do some more outdoorsy kind of stuff that I never really do in the fall.
That would honestly probably be good for me, my blood pressure, and my mental health, but fuck all of that….I want football.
Question:
Since I like casting movies, give me a dream cast for a Street Fighter movie.
— brett (@thebrettclark) August 13, 2020
Answer:
Man, give me Tom Hardy as Guile any day of the week. If y’all didn’t know by now, I’m a huge Tom Hardy guy. He’s one of those actors that I can’t miss a movie of, and I think he’d kill it in this role. Give me Jason Statham as M. Bison, and that’s a main event in any stadium.
As for the supporting characters, let’s roll with Big Dwayne as Sagat, Chris Evans as Ken, Keanu Reeves as Ryu, Milla Jovovich as Cammy, Ryan Reynolds as Vega, Karl Urban as Blanka.
And, of course, the dude that played The Mountain in Game of Thrones as Zangief.
Question, from @brittbutspooky on Twitter:
How do you balance productivity and relaxation?
Answer:
I kinda hate American grind culture – things are much more nuanced than “if you work hard, you’ll get rich” and I hate that people think that way and work that way without any real ambition and vision. The fact is, we don’t all have the same resources. We don’t all have the same ideas that can practically be turned into an actual business. And, most importantly, to begin with, we don’t all have to be super-productive workaholics to be valuable to our communities and our loved ones. So, the first thing I would say is just a reminder that I put personal happiness and satisfaction above everything else. We all should define our own success, and measure productivity based off of that – not some vague societal idea of success.
I make no bones about it – that idea was in my head as a young man, and I really struggled to understand why I wasn’t rich after my first day job because I worked harder than everyones else (I hate typing ‘lmao’ in an article, buuuttt….), LMAO. I thought because I was going to college, that I was going to be SPECIAL!
So, in terms of pure GSD (get shit done), for me, I had to really change the way I thought about downtime. It wasn’t laziness. It was, itself, a tool to help productivity. If I feel relaxed and refreshed, I’m going to be more motivated to create, and I’m going to have energy to get more of the business shit that isn’t as enjoyable done.
So, understanding that “if I relax for an hour a day or so, I’ll get more done the next day,” and enforcing that relaxation period, I’ve been able to drastically improve my mental and physical health and stay relatively productive in terms of crossing stuff off of my to-do list each week. Also, don’t touch my Friday nights or my Sunday mornings. That’s my designated relax time, and I very rarely break that rule.
I recognize how important relaxation is, and have actually started adding it to my to-do list. “Be sure to read and/or play guitar for three hours this week” or “get in five miles on the greenway.” Stuff like that. It helps me to organize things, put ’em on paper and get ’em out of my head….even my downtime.
Yes, I’m a lunatic.
Question:
Follow up: Caught any good Pokémon lately?
— brett (@thebrettclark) August 14, 2020
Answer:
I have been on a major roll since Pokemon Go Fest. That day, I got my Mewtwo, and shadow birds (Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos). Me and the boys won a Rayquanza raid not too long ago, and it came down to my last pokeball before I caught it, so I was feeling on top of the world.
This week, I finally got enough Magikarp candy to get my Gyarados, and I finished the special research that concludes with a Mew encounter that I successfully won. Not to mention, I’ve been racking up some shiny bastards like crazy – got a shiny Zigzagoon, Oddish, Swablu, and Exeggcute all within the last couple of weeks.
I feel like I’m on the run of a lifetime, Brett. It’s bound to end at some point, but for now, I’m like 2019 Joe Burrow of Pokemon Go.
Keep the questions coming – catch y’all next week!
