Not one but two contestants were unmasked on last night’s episode of The Masked Singer. The season gave the audience the show’s first duo competitors. From their first performance, many were questioning if the Snow Owls were siblings, husband-wife, or something else completely different. What we all knew from the moment they broke into song was that they were extremely talented and a force to be reckoned with on the show. Unfortunately, that deep run in the competition did not come to fruition and the duo was unmasked.

The Sun once again showed why she is arguably the biggest threat to take home the trophy this season with an amazing performance of Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart.” About five seconds into the song, it hit me who I believe without a doubt the Sun is. I truly believe it is Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles. I have no idea if any of the clues help back this up, but her voice and mannerisms are just so recognizable to me. Her clue package included angel wind chimes; references to Baltimore, Alaska, and Mexico; plastic cows, a black race car. We also learn that she has at least one song that has been certified gold.

The panel of judges guesses included Katherine McPhee, JoJo, Jewel and Demi Lovato. None of the judge’s guesses are farfetched but I stand by the person behind the mask being the “Stuck Like Glue” singer.

Another strong female contender, Popcorn, also performed last night. Popcorn once again blew everyone away with her powerful vocals. Her rendition of Jesse J’s “Domino” was my favorite of hers so far this season. Popcorn had a masked friend help give some clues to her identity. She talked about how one of the judges has guessed her identity before and that the masked friend has been on the show before. Popcorn introduces her friend by saying she would not be here if it was not for her “Queen BFF.”

The ‘queen’ clue leads me to believe the friend could be King of Queens star Leah Remini who has been a guest judge on the show before. The clues throughout her time on the show keeps me on the path that it could be ‘80s pop star Taylor Dayne. In addition to Dayne, the judges guessed Cyndi Lauper and Anita Baker. Popcorn was the first contestant to move in to the Super Six leaving the Snow Owls and the Sun to battle in the smackdown to see who would join Popcorn.

After the battle, the Snow Owls were eliminated and the final guesses from the judges included Amy Grant and Vince Gill, Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna, Danny DeVito, and Rhea Perlman. Nicole Scherzinger and I were on the same page this time as we both believed it was Clint Black and his wife Lisa Hartman Black. The clue package had countless references to Nashville, so it was just a matter of deciding which Music City power couple it was. Turns out, it was indeed the country legend with 22 number one hits and Cathy Rush from Knots Landing, Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black.

The Masked Singer returns next Wednesday for an all new episode on FOX.
