Derrick Henry Bulldozes His Way Into the MVP Conversation (MVP Watch)

Stoney Keeley is BACK for another week of the NFL MVP Watch!

Welcome in to the 2020 NFL MVP Watch, where I will be taking a look around the landscape of the MVP race in the NFL this season. This is pretty much the same thing as my Heisman Watch, sooooo…like, do I want to spend a lot of time on an intro?

Shit, I guess I will for the uninitiated – each week, I will count down the five most MVP-worthy performances of the week and offer up my reasoning for each ranking. You finish first, you get five points. Second is four, so on and so forth. I will keep the season point totals going at the bottom of the article and at the end of the season, whoever has the most points gets the 2020 SoBros Network NFL MVP “honors.”

NFL MVP WATCH: WEEK 12

5. Tyreek Hill, Chiefs WR – What an absurd day for the Chiefs wide receiver. Cheetah posted 13 catches against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and accumulated a stupid 269 yards and three touchdowns in the process. I dare say this dude makes it look easy.

4. Aaron Rodgers, Packers QB – Rodgers helped get the Packers back on track with a dominant win over a good Bears defense on Sunday Night Football. In the process, he went 21/29 for 211 yards and four touchdowns, good enough for the 2nd highest passer rating of the week (132.3). He continues to remind the haters that he’s not going away just yet.

3. Deshaun Watson, Texans QB – Don’t look now, but here come the Texans. They’re 3-1 in their last four games, and Watson seems to be getting things going on offense. He was the league’s highest rated passer this week (150.4), going 17/25 for 318 yards and four touchdowns as the Texans picked apart the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving day.

2. Derrick Henry, Titans RB – This is about the time of year we really start to see King Henry heat up, and boy did he put the NFL on notice on Sunday. He went for 178 yards on 27 carries, and scored three times against the best defense in football. He’s now the NFL’s leading rusher by a margin of 127 yards. It’s time to put this man in the MVP conversation with the Mahomes, Rodgers, Murrays, and Wilsons of the world.

1. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs QB – He’s just the best player in football right now, no two ways about it. This guy continues to prove what a generational talent he is. He led the league in passing yards this week with 462, completing 76% of his passes and throwing three touchdowns in the process. If you’re looking at the total body of work in 2020, I think Mahomes may be in line to get his second MVP title of his young career.
