Okay, we’re going to step outside the world of objective journalism today. Usually, that’s what we do best. Just pure objective journalism for the betterment of the population. But, today – I have a fucking axe to grind. Doug Pederson, looking at you. What a joke!
Your boy hit 14 of 15 picks on a $1 parlay this week – gamblers know how often that happens. NEVER – it NEVER happens! Guess what that 15th pick was? That’s right – Eagles +3. I just liked the matchup with Jalen Hurts at quarterback. The ol’ Football Team has quite the pass rush, but I thought that Hurts’ dynamic running ability would force Washington to play a little more honest and give Hurts the opportunity to break some big runs. I appeared to be right until Pederson inexplicably pulled Hurts from the game when it was tight because he wanted to get Nate Sudfield some reps like this was a fucking preseason game.
The justification we got? Pederson was “coaching to win” – all of the Eagles “top guys” were out there. It couldn’t have possibly been tanking and how dare we insinuate that!
Yeah – it was a crock of shit. You can hear the explanation for yourself.

Well, that was just an outright lie because Hurts was NOT on the field so no – your “top guys” were indeed NOT out there trying to beat Washington.
The only justification he could’ve made was “Hurts is our guy and we didn’t want to risk injury in a meaningless game.” If you’re sold on Hurts, sure – protect the kid. But, I thought Cris Collinsworth brought up an excellent point. Don’t you wanna see what Hurts can do in those situations? Prime time in a meaningful game – it’s close, and a big play or two could pull it off. If he’s going to be the franchise moving forward, don’t you want to see what he can do in that kind of situation?
It just doesn’t make sense, which is why I ultimately land on “BULLLLLLLLSHIT.”
There is no doubt in my mind that if there was actually a crowd in that stadium last night, Eagles fans would have Pederson’s head on a stake outside the venue this morning. And, the Giants fans? They might’ve burned the city down.
I don’t know what the NFL can do about it, but man – they have to be pissed about this too, right? I mean, you want your best game every week on Sunday Night Football – there are big time TV dollars at stake here and instead, you get a glorified preseason game and even the announcers are laughing at what a joke the game is.
Should the Giants have won more than six games? Yes – then, there’s no gripe with this. But, it’s not just the Giants – everyone that tuned into that game last night saw Pederson make a mockery of the sport. You could tell that game meant something to the Eagles players. Those guys wanted to WIN, and the coach took it away from ’em. I don’t think this will be forgotten by the fans in Philadelphia for a long time.
Doug Pederson tanking that game last night is probably the only thing that could unite Eagles fans and Giants fans, so congrats…you played yourself, coach. And, yes – the fact that I almost hit a 15-team parlay may or may not have motivated me to write this piece.
