In today’s press conference with Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans, NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin pointed out how Evans likes to commemorate big moments in his life with a tattoo. Evans smiled, “you’ve done your research, huh?

Pressed with what he would do if the Bucs win Super Bowl LV this Sunday, Evans added that he would definitely get that Lombardi Trophy tattooed on him somewhere, though he didn’t know where just yet. See what we’re doing here, folks? There’s no physical Radio Row this year, but we’re still learning things about the coaches and players. Mad props to the NFL for pulling this virtual formula off – it’s great.

Evans was a class act at the podium today – even to the dude that pitched his YouTube channel to the Bucs wide receiver. Seriously, guys? This is why the NFL won’t let us small time blogs/podcasts in! Anyway, when asked about what winning the Super Bowl would mean for his legacy, Evans replied with, “legacy? That’s for people to debate.” It’s clear that the focus is on the here and now for Evans, and really, the Bucs as a whole – “as a goal of mine, it’ll be huge,” Evans adds, “…we’ve been working all year for it.

Tom Brady, covid, and the Bucs playing a home Super Bowl (did you guys know that the Bucs will be able to “sleep in their own beds” this week? Or, that they’ll be “playing in their own backyard?”) will all be major storylines this week. But, let’s not let Mike Evans get lost in the shuffle – this dude deserves to cement his place as one of the best receivers of the last decade. He’s earned that Lombardi tattoo. He’s the first receiver to start his career with seven straight 1000-yard seasons. Evans opened up about Brady and head coach Bruce Arians making an effort to make sure he got to that 1000-yard mark this season, too. It’s clear that this man commands respect on and off the field, and he deserves to be crowned champion.

Evans played more in the slot this year than he has before, and whether or not correlation implies causation in this situation, he coincidentally had more touchdowns in 2020 than he had had in any other season prior. This man is one of the best in the league, and he said it best himself:

“Guys always have to look for #13.”
