The stadium situation is one that is talked about with a bit of regularity in Nashville. The way the rest of the NFL is going, if you don’t build some massive dome, you’re left behind in the dust. The Tennessee Titans have a lease with the city through 2028, but that doesn’t mean that Nissan Stadium isn’t in need of a little TLC. As far as NFL stadiums go, it’s probably not the most advanced. I think that’s safe to say (tongue firmly planted in cheek). I mean, they just renovated a few years ago and, for some reason, DIDN’T get rid of the damn doll houses.
But, that’s neither here nor there. The point is that renovation is on their radar and talks between the city, state, and team are starting to heat up. My favorite part of this whole process is going on now – we’re getting some concept art. Hell yeah.

No cost estimates are out yet, but the renovation would be part of a revamp of the East Bank to make it a neighborhood.

Yeah, I’m here for it. Why stop at a new, renovated stadium? Why not build an ENTIRE DAMN NEIGHBORHOOD?!?! I don’t see the rest of the NFL doing that. Let’s put bars and music venues everywhere. That’s all Nashville is, anyway. More shops. More offices. MORE, MORE, MORE!
Okay, sarcasm aside, I actually love this idea. I am fascinated by what the Atlanta Braves did with their stadium, where you can stay in a hotel room that literally has a view of the game. I would be on board if we could get something like that here. And, really, yeah – it’s worth saying – if you cross that pedestrian bridge from downtown Nashville to Nissan Stadium, there ain’t shit to do EXCEPT for Nissan Stadium. If we’re supposed to be this big entertainment mecca, we can’t have some big junkyard in the middle of downtown, amiright?!
How long have folks in Nashville talked about sprucing up that part of town? It feels like it’s been going on for as long as I’ve been a Nashvillian (34 years – I was born here). Nothing ever seems to stick. But, this could be the one. This could be it. There’s big money at stake, and it’s the NFL. Mouths have been watering for “more” and “bigger” ever since we saw how successful the NFL Draft was here in town in 2019.
