GODZILLA VS. KONG
3.5 out of 5 stars
In what can only be the main event of this MonsterVerse, director Adam Wingard spectacularly delivers on what we all want to see. In a story of King Kong finding his home and Godzilla refusing to be replaced, it’s an entertaining extravaganza that gets off on all-out decimation. Bring on the roaring, the chest-pounding, and the radioactive fire breathing!
We all know who we came to see, but they do have co-stars that include Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, Millie Bobby Brown, Demián Bichir, Kyle Chandler, and Brian Tyree Henry. They’re out there running around in hopes of making a difference, yet they’re better off grabbing some popcorn and sitting back with the rest of us and let these two titular titans do their thing. It’s Zilla and Kong’s world, we’re just living in it. And lets face it – the human components are never that interesting nor important in movies like this. I am thankful for Henry as he’s the only comic relief and there’s always room for more laughs.
Premiering in theaters and on HBO Max – the choice of sitting on the couch or in a movie theater is an easy one. Where the astounding visual effects are all around you and your seat shakes, these two big behemoths throwing bows is best experienced on the big screen. It’s a fun, amped-up and epic clash with awesome action sequences that don’t disappoint. Whether you’re Team Godzilla or Team Kong, there’s not much more you could ask for.
