Hop is the perfect movie for families and the Easter holiday. It is about growing up and having responsibility. Also, it is about wanting to do what you love and having the chance to chase your dreams and it does not matter if you are a person or a rabbit. The movie also has some ridiculous moments that kids may not even believe, but it is innocent entertainment for everyone and it will make everyone in the family laugh more than just a few times.

E.B. (voiced by Russell Brand) is the teenage son of the Easter Bunny who does not want to become part of the tradition and be the next Easter Bunny. Instead, his dream is to be a rock ‘n roll drummer. So he escapes Easter Island and runs away to Hollywood to become a star. But things do not get off to a good start. Fred (James Marsden), a jobless slacker, hits E.B. with his car. Feeling guilty and a little crazy, he lets E.B. stay with him for the night. But by the next day, Fred realizes the talking rabbit is real. And while at one point he tries to get rid of E.B., they need each other more than either one realizes.

The humor of Brand definitely comes across in E.B. and it practically makes the entire movie funny. The other main star who brings the laughs isn’t Marsden (who is good at being goofy), but Hank Azaria voicing a jealous chick named Carlos, who desperately wants the life of the Easter Bunny. The scenes with E.B. and/or Carlos are the best and funniest in the movie. It always feels like you want to see more of these two.

Director Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks) and the studio that created Despicable Me do a great job mixing live-action and animation. Kids under 12 years-old will enjoy Hop the most. But that doesn’t mean everyone else will be bored. It has a nice meaning and quite a bit of humor for all ages. It is more fun and enjoyable than you might think or expect.
