You know summer is right around the corner when we start making plans for Movies in the Park, the annual outdoor bonanza put on by the Nashville Scene. I just wish the weather would catch up – like, it’s May…can we stop dipping into the 40s? Anyway, I’ll stop yelling at the clouds, and get to what you came here for: the announcement of the 2021 season of Movies in the Park!

The festivities kick off at 5pm with food truck vendors, games, and giveaways from our sponsors. Movies begin at sundown, typically around 8pm, and we are happy to have the Nashville Film Festival as our production partner again this year!
Movies in the Park will remain a free-to-attend event, but due to restrictions in line with safety protocols for the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance may be limited each night. Stay tuned for more details as we approach the summer!
I live for this free shit – tell me there’s not something inherently nostalgic about going to the park in the summer time, watching a beautiful sunset, and then laying out a blanket to enjoy the art of cinema. You can’t beat it. Even if you didn’t grow up doing this, it’s a call back to a bygone era. Did I ever go sit out in a field and watch The Little Rascals as a kid? Hell no – but I can put my brain in that headspace thanks to Movies in the Park. You throw in some food trucks from Nashville’s popping food truck scene, and my 34-year old ass is SET. Maybe this is an indicator of growing old, but I get more stoked for shit like this than any celebrity bar that’s opening up in town. As for the lineup of movies they’ll be showing, let’s get to that before we get out of here:
- June 3rd: Frozen II
- June 10th: Little Women (2019)
- June 17th: Thor: Ragnarok
- June 24th: 9 to 5
Perfect finale with the 9 to 5 drop. I never saw Frozen II, so I can’t vouch for it – but it’s not really my demographic anyway. They didn’t make Frozen II for guys like me. The 2019 version of Little Women is an absolute banger, but the look of the film is too cold for me to jive with in the summer time. So, I’m eyeballing that showing of Thor: Ragnarok, the greatest MCU movie ever in my opinion, on the 17th.
