It's lunch time on a Friday. The SoBros Mailbag is here!

Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Welcome to the newest weekly recurring feature up in this bitch: The SoBros Mailbag. As always, hit us with those mailbag questions @SoBrosNetwork on Twitter, email ’em to me anonymously at thesobrosnetwork@gmail.com. And, holy shit, I need to update this terrible intro paragraph that I’ve been using literally ever since I started writing this column…

Question:

Answer:

The birthday was great – I didn’t do as good of a job as I should have at actually mentally clocking out, but it was at least a vacation from the day job. We drove up to New Jersey on the 26th, and drove home on July 4th, and I was still working on SoBros stuff the whole time, trying to at least get one new column up every day that I was gone and handle some backend business stuff too. But, my birthday was one of only two days the entire trip that I didn’t even pick up my MacBook. My future mother-in-law treated us to an excellent lunch at a place in Matawan called The Brass Rail, where I gorged myself on fettucine alfredo and beer. Then, Aura, the kids (my niece and nephew), and I went down to Point Pleasant. They rode all the boardwalk rides, played some games, and then Aura’s dad joined us for a round of putt-putt (most people in the northeast don’t seem to know what putt-putt means….it’s just mini-golf). I mean, shit – we made a day of it. After that, we had dinner at Mulligan’s in Farmingdale and capped off the evening with an ice cream cake. I got a brand new cast iron skillet from the family that I’m stoked to use. I was exhausted, partly because of all the activity, and partly because of the heat. But, it was a wonderful day and all of the well-wishes I got over the course of it really moved me. I feel like I’ve been on the internet so long that I just become apart of the white noise if that makes sense. It was nice to be reminded of the people on here that do still care. That whole trip was a much-needed break and allowed me time to recalibrate.

Question:

Answer:

It’s going to happen, for sure, this year. I’m already thinking of ideas, so if you have any, shoot ’em my way. I might just have the league over to our house, cook up a big dinner, have some brewskis, and get after it. I’m pumped for it, though. This is the home stretch of the long offseason.

Question, from Olivia on Facebook:

Favorite kitchen gadget?

Answer:

I’m not really a big gadget guy yet…yet. As silly as it sounds, we just got our first real kitchen when we moved into our house in January, so we’re still acquiring all the basics. Like, we just got our first set of good mixing bowls. Prior to that, we were just mixing things up in cereal bowls and paper plates. So, I’m itching to start getting some more of the gadgety shit as we round out our kitchen. Gun to my head, with what I have now, I know it doesn’t really count, but I’m going to say the air fryer. You can cook anything in it. It’s what I use to make my Nashville hot chicken recipe, and it rules.

Question:

Answer:

Well, the odds do give ’em a pretty fair chance, as they’re only behind the Las Vegas Aces in DraftKings’ eyes right now. Also, don’t lie to these people, Patrick. I don’t know a damn thing about the WNBA.

Question:

Answer:

I have reached out to Reno for comment and will update this once I hear back.

Question:

Answer:

Dude, my dad bought a full-on riding lawnmower at the Watertown mile-long yard sale for $30, fixed it up, and ran that sumbitch into the ground. I want to say he got like three good summers out of that thing. Also, the first year that the SoBros team got together and went up to the Watertown yard sale to get some actual content out of it, we stumbled upon a box of porn that someone was selling. Can’t make this shit up – I miss that place and hopefully we’ll get back there next spring. As for me personally, I still think about this zebra clock I got for $12:

Question, from Kevin on Instagram:

I want to know if you put candles in your turkey cakes and made wishes!

Answer:

I did not, but now that you bring it up, I’m really wishing I did. Those turkey cakes ruled, even if I did put twice as much Old Bay and black pepper in ’em than I was supposed to. I highly recommend it.
