Man, I wrote a few years ago that I could definitely see Donelson becoming one of the trendy towns around Nashville. My exact words were that it was beginning to “buzz with East Nashville spirit.” Years later, and I can still see it. Some of the area’s best restaurants reside in Donelson – lookin’ at you, Nectar, TennFold, Fletcher’s, and of course, Krystal. Well, news broke yesterday that Donelson would be adding a heavy hitter from the Nashville culinary scene, as Edley’s Bar-B-Que announced that they would be opening up their sixth location in town.
Edley’s Bar-B-Que announced plans to expand with a new location in Donelson which is set to open in late spring of 2022.
According to a release, the new location will be at 2717 Lebanon Pike. This marks the sixth location for Edley’s, with five total in Tennessee and one in Illinois.
You mean to tell me I’m going to get a Martin’s -AND- an Edley’s over here east of town? Shit, ya love to see it. I may never drive downtown again.
We’ve been talking about BBQ all summer on the SoBros Power Hour – I’ve had the boys from Football & Other F Words on, Steven McCash and I have talked about it. I don’t know where this came from, but it’s been an ongoing conversation. Maybe it’s because we never really addressed it on SoBros Network before, and we should come up with some sort of definitive Nashville BBQ rankings here. I don’t know, and I’m fucking rambling so let me rein myself in. My point is – we’ve talked a lot about BBQ in town lately, and Edley’s is one of the institutions that almost always pops up in the conversation.
For me, it’s kind of a 1A and 1B situation between Edley’s and Martin’s. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal at either spot. Regardless, Edley’s is a popular choice among Nashvillians for the best BBQ in town (gotta try the burnt ends some time, though – that shit is glorious). Now, the east side of Nashville is getting a big boost in its BBQ scene with this one. Can’t wait.
