Hard to believe that the fifth year of drawing up some sort of Spooky Season content plan and getting shit done is in the books. But, here we are – Halloween 2021 is upon us. I feel like this year was a little lighter in years past. I guess it’s hard to come up with new shit every year when you’ve been doing this for half a decade at this point. Nonetheless, this time of year excites me because I feel like we get to do some of our most creative stuff as writers and podcasters. It’s always fun to bounce ideas off of each other and see them through. I just didn’t get started on this year’s plan as soon as I should have. That doesn’t mean I’m not completely satisfied with what we were able to get done, though.
For me, this day means it’s time to finally take a step back, take my foot off the gas a little bit, and look back at all the hard work the SoBros Network team has put in to make this another fun (and hopefully entertaining) Spooky Season. I’ll do this little coverage recap, hit ‘publish,’ and then I’ll be on my way to drink some gin and *toxics* to relax a bit, watching some Halloween movies in the process. So, let’s get to recappin’ up in here. I kicked off the season with a special edition of the SoBros Hot Minute….about….ghosts.
- We talked about Scary Movie on an episode of Drinking With…Steven McCash.
- I wrote about this king housing an entire sweet potato pie in a screening of The Addams Family 2.
- Brittany Fernandez added to the grand anthology of SoBros Scary Stories with this tale.
- I reviewed Haunted Hayride from Yankee Candle’s latest line of Halloween themed fragrances.
- We recorded two brand new spooky episodes of Phone It In, talking about the Warrens on one, and sharing creepy stories from Reddit on another.
- Some of our friends and I provided a few outside-the-box movie suggestions for this time of year.
- I think we should just let these yard skeletons keep growing and growing.
- With a new Paranormal Activity flick dropping, Brandon Vick looked back at the first one, the second one, AND the third one…
- Brandon, Brittany, and I hopped on the line to review Halloween Kills on an episode of The Vick’s Flicks Podcast.
- Brandon Vick reviewed Edgar Wright’s latest thriller, Last Night In Soho.
We capped it all off by drinking some Oktoberfests and some pumpkin beers:
And, we’re still kicking! Don’t forget to tune in to our livestream of Drinking With…The Cell TONIGHT on all of the main SoBros Network social media accounts.
Over on the Patreon, I wrote about my experience watching 1978’s Halloween for the first time in full, the latest edition of SoBros Short Fiction dives into a creepy story about a mind-bending sighting, and I asked every SoBro for the time in their life that they were most scared on a special episode of The Patreon Files. All of that is in addition to the usual premium content you get on the SoBros Patreon page. Finally, I’ll leave you with what I believe is our best #SpookySeason work.
