Y’all know for the better part of 2021 now, I’ve been covering some of the best of the best when it comes to the classic sporting event arena brawl or stadium melee. It’s one of my favorite things about live sports, and absolutely my favorite thing about crowds returning to sporting events. It took the pandemic taking that away from me for me to realize just how much I had taken these stadium fights for granted. But, it’s always been some other city…some other team’s…treasure. Now, thanks to esteemed photojournalist Rick Merritt (Twitter), we, the Music City…Nashville, Tennessee….have our own arena brawl to break down. So, let’s get to it this morning.

Hockey is back, baby. We don’t even know what this fight was about, but it doesn’t matter. All that matters is that we’ve got some swinging fists and we have a crowd of people begging these dudes to stop hitting each other. My favorite thing about this whole video is this dude next to the whole ordeal that just looks bored of it all:

Is that Coach Dave McGinnis?!?!
By the way, in case you care about the actual game and come to SoBros Network expecting actual analysis, the Preds dropped this game to the Seattle Kraken 4-3 to start the season 0-1. The Kraken branding is fire, and those sweaters are simply electric. That is my analysis of the game, and coincidentally, now you guys know why I am completely incapable of covering the Preds. Also, it looks like there’s another angle of the fight, and some dude wearing a shirt that says ‘assholes live forever’ jumps in:
"Assholes live forever" How ironic https://t.co/Dqzg5ZsCe3

Fighting is one thing, but that shirt….what the fuck, man? Who the fuck thinks that’s an acceptable thing to wear in public? Y’all can fist fight all you want, but if you’re wearing stuff like that to the arena, then that deserves a ban, in my humble journalistic opinion. We need actual fashion police for this very reason.
Smashville indeed, baby – we’ve made it as a sports city. If it wasn’t the 2017 Stanley Cup or the 2019 NFL Draft, it’s getting fist fights in the crowd going viral.
