We’re in full on Spooky Season mode here at SoBros Network, and The Vick’s Flicks Podcasts is no different. Last week, I fired up the mics for a brand new episode of the show, highlighting the release of Halloween Kills. Of course, we had to get the man whose namesake the show bears, our resident film critic, Brandon Vick, on the line to offer up his thoughts on the movie. But, since this was our big #SpookySeason episode of The Vick’s Flicks Podcast this year, we had to consult with our resident spooky queen as well, Brittany Fernandez. Brandon and Brittany often differ on horror movies, so it’s always good to get them in the same room to break down movies such as Halloween Kills. This show was no different – buckle up. It’s a fun one.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Thoughts on David Gordon Green’s 2018 reboot of Halloween and how it compares to its sequel
- What Brandon and Brittany each thought of the movie, what could’ve been done better, and what qualities they found redeeming in a film that a lot of critics have referred to as ‘filler’
- How Halloween Kills stands apart in the grand mythology of the Halloween saga
- The Rotten Tomatoes rankings (critics: 39%, audience: 70%), and what general audiences may have seen in the movie that critics didn’t
- Whether or not the fact that it was released during the height of Spooky Season enhances the film’s appeal or not
- If Jamie Lee Curtis’ portrayal of Laurie Strode should be in the conversation among other actors and actresses that have made themselves completely synonymous with a character
- How Halloween Kills has made Brandon and Brittany each feel about the upcoming conclusion of this trilogy, Halloween Ends
- And, of course, Danny DeVito from Batman Returns.
